| Tuesday the 26th: | TURN-AROUND; Donna Lampkin and Jake Redcorn:
At about 10:30 am, a pregnant young Black woman, who came to Tiller's gate with a toddler-sized child in a car-seat in the back seat of her car, stopped to accept literature from Donna.
She talked briefly to Donna before going on into Tiller's Parking Lot. Donna had tried to get her to go over to Choices Medical Clinic, but she did not immediately take Donna's advice.
However, about 10 minutes after going into Tiller's facility, she came back to the gate. This time, she went directly to Choices Medical Clinic, where she stayed a long time.
Donna was replaced on-site by Jake Redcorn. Donna asked Jake to watch for her leaving Choices Medical Clinic. However, the pregnant lady did not come back out of Choices Medical Clinic until early after noon, when Jake Redcorn was departing the area, following his shift.
She spoke briefly to Jake, but Jake was not able to get a confirmation of a save from her, as she was shy about talking to Jake. Nevertheless, she had received positive professional help at Choices Medical Clinic and was happy about it.
This will be counted as a Turn-Around only, until and unless we receive additional information whereby we could upgrade it to a Confirmed Save - as it most likely actually is.
In any case, please keep this young Mother and both of her children in your prayers. |

| Monday the 18th: | TURN-AROUND; Jennifer McCoy:
At about 2:00 pm, a white sedan with Sedgwick County Kansas tags, (tag number on file) and with a Holy Rosary hanging from the rear view mirror, went in to Tiller's gate. The driver was a Hispanic middle-aged woman, and a 17 year-old girl who appeared to be her daughter.
Assuming (correctly) that these were likely two Catholic individuals, Jennifer called out to them when they parked their car within site of the gate, and began walking towards Tiller's entrance. Jennifer reminded them that as Catholics that they needed to respect the life of the unborn child.
The driver and the 17-year-old walked into Tillers pretending not to hear Jennifer, but in less than 1/2 an hour, they were back at the gate, in their car leaving. This time, they stopped to talk to Jennifer.
They took printed literature and talked to Jennifer about the photos contained in the printed literature. They questioned whether or not the photos were real. At that point, Jennifer was able to use the Truth-truck image as an additional piece of evidence to show how developed the child is at 10 weeks.
This was apparently the first exposure that either of them had to the development of the unborn child, in its early stages of pregnancy. They asked Jennifer several questions while sitting in their car.
They left, with at least an awareness of what the unborn child looks like, saying that they did not think that they could go through with an abortion.
This car will be put on the watch list for one week. |

| Monday the 11th: | CONFIRMED SAVE; Jennifer McCoy:
At about 1:40 pm, while Jennifer McCoy was taking her shift at the gate of the Tiller Abortion Facility in Wichita, Kansas, a white SUV with Sedgwick County Kansas Tags, stopped to talk to Jennifer.
In the vehicle there were two guys and one pregnant girl; all were in their 20's.
Jennifer was able to talk them out of keeping their abortion appointment; and she convinced them to go next door to the proLife Choices Medical Clinic instead.
When they came out of Choices Medical Clinic, after being in for about 40 minutes, they talked at length to Jennifer again.
By the Grace of God, both the young mother-to-be and the father of her unborn child told Jennifer that they would be keeping their baby, and that they were happy with their decision.
They had scheduled an abortion without knowing anything about the baby she is carrying. However, after seeing her baby on ultrasound and learning more about abortion and its effects, they had a complete change-of-heart.
Before leaving, they accepted a nice hand-made baby blanket from Jennifer.
They thanked Jennifer generously for her help before leaving.
Please say a prayer of Thanksgiving for this Confirmed save - which occurred on the first day of the sixth year of our continuous presence at Tiller's gate.
This baby is the 394th documented Project LPPPA save. |

| Tuesday the 5th: | CONFIRMED SAVE: Amy Rich, Michelle Herzog, Donna Lippoldt and Margret Weaver:
At about 10:15 am, while Amy, Michelle, Donna, and Margaret were in prayer, at the gate of the Tiller Abortion facility, in Wichita, Kansas, a black sedan, (Kansas Tag Number on-file) that had been parked on the east side of Tiller's parking lot, came slowly to the gate and stopped to talk to the on-site volunteers.
The driver was a young Caucasian lady, who is about 20 years old. She was alone in the car, and she was crying, and very emotional, but she was able to tell the volunteers that she had changed her mind, and was keeping her baby.
Her name is "D___" and she was willing to pray together with Amy, Michelle and Margaret, right there at Tiller's gate. Amy described her as thin, early in her pregnancy, very pretty and soft-spoken.
She also accepted the printed literature pack, but did she not want to go to Choices Medical Clinic, because she was not certain that she needed the help that they offer.
Michelle asked her if there was someone or something that made her feel like she had to be here for an abortion. Michelle also offered her help of all kinds.
"D___" was too emotional to speak openly, but just repeated, "I cannot go through with it."
Sitting in her car, outbound from Tiller's parking lot, the Truth-truck was directly in front of her. She saw the image on the side panel of the Truth-truck, and that may have played a role in her decision not to have the abortion.
However, her reasons for being at Tiller's in the first place, and her reasons for not going through with the abortion remain unknown.
Please keep "D___" in your prayers today, and in the coming months. |

| Monday the 27th: | TURN-AROUND; Jennifer McCoy:
In the sprinkling rain, Jennifer McCoy, the KCFL on-site volunteer, took refuge in the Truth-truck.
At about 12:45 pm, Jennifer saw a white Cadillac (tag number on file), carrying two young girls, both in their 20's - one Hispanic or Asian mix and one Caucasian, who was the driver, coming northbound on Bleckley Street.
Jennifer stepped out of the Truth-truck and was successful at stopping the car prior to them entering Tiller's gate.
They were not even sure that they were at Tiller's, because the signage is so lacking, and - as if lost - stopped to ask Jennifer directions to get to Tiller's for the abortion appointment of the girl in the passenger seat.
Jennifer was able to talk to them for a long time (about 10 minutes) and she gave them literature and answered their questions.
After reading the literature, and after asking Jennifer several questions, the young girls decided NOT to go into Tiller's.
Jennifer attempted to get them to go over to Choices Medical Clinic, but they declined to do so.
Before leaving, they thanked Jennifer for her help and information. However, they stopped short of giving us the confirmation information that we would need to count this as a confirmed save.
<<UPDATE 2009-May-1 >>
This vehicle was placed on the Watch List for one week, and on Friday (today) KCFL Volunteer Janet Moore saw this same car with the two girls going in - apparently for an early-term abortion.
The Turn-Around Count has been adjusted accordingly. |
| Wednesday the 29th: | TURN-AROUND: Rick Moss, Michelle Herzog and Faith Klug:
At about 1:50 pm, a young lady in a white Oldsmobile van, (Kansas tag number is on file), drove southbound on Bleckley Street, slowly past Tiller's, then turned around and came slowly northbound on Bleckley Street. The lady appeared to be in her late 20's or early 30's and she reportedly had a troubled look on her face.
She stopped her vehicle, prior to entering Tiller's driveway, and Michelle asked her if she was pregnant.
She was pregnant, and was looking for Tiller's facility. The on-site volunteers gave her some printed literature, and talked with her. They were able to get her to go into the ProLife Choices Medical Clinic which is located just south of Tiller's facility.
This young lady remain in Choices Medical Facility at the time of this posting.
Prayers are in order! |
| Thursday the 30th: | CONFIRMED SAVE + TURN-ARUND;
CONFIRMED SAVE: Margaret Mans, Russ Krueger, Ruth Krueger:
At 1:06 two black ladies, both who appeared to be in their upper 20's or early 30's came into Tillers in a grey Sedan. They did not accept literature at the gate (according to the KCFL vehicle log at the gate).
After being in Tillers for about an hour, they came out and went directly to Choices Medical Clinic.
When they left Choices Medical Clinic - where they had made an appointment for tomorrow, they stopped to talk to Margaret.
They told Margaret that "...they had a change-of-mind, and that they are keeping the baby!" Margaret asked the pregnant one what had made her change her mind, and she just began to cry, and could not answer the question.
Margaret offered her a baby blanket, and she accepted it.
Please pray for this mother and child, and for all women who are contemplating abortion.
* * *
TURN-AROUND: Margaret Mans:
At about 3:45 pm, a black man in a Dodge or Chrysler Mini-van, with Kansas tags (Outside of Sedgwick County - Tag Number is on file) stopped at Tiller's gate to talk to Margaret.
He was with a pregnant Hispanic woman passenger, who is about 30 years old, who apparently does not speak English.
They had just stopped to look at the Truth-truck, prior to driving onto Tiller's driveway, and they took literature from Margaret when she offered it to them.
Margaret was able to talk them out of going in to Tiller's, pointing out that the picture on the back of the Truth-truck is of a lady who died here. The man was very polite, and he was suprized to hear that.
Eventually, they left northbound on Bleckley Street, but they stopped for a long time at the stop sign at Kellogg drive - apparently discussing the matter.
Then, after being completely gone for awhile, they came back to Tiller's gate. The man told Margaret that he was going in for the abortion-information pack only. He said that they did not have the time today for an abortion anyway, because he had to pick up his children and it was getting too late.
On their way out of Tiller's parking lot, they stopped a third time to talk to Margaret Mans at the gate.
This time the man was holding the Tiller Information pack in front of him, in a manner in which he would not see the banner photo on the Truth-truck.
The man said that he was afraid of the people who work inside Tiller's. Margaret tried to get him to go over to Choices Medical Clinic, but the man told Margaret that they had already been over there, and that the people at Choices Medical Clinic did not have time to see them today.
This vehicle will be added to the watch-list for this week and next. |

| Monday the 6th: | TURN-AROUND; Randy Blasi (via hand-written Incident Report. Written by Randy Blasi):
At around 5 pm, a van pulled into Tiller's very slowly. I was halfway to Kellogg on the sidewalk, thinking that there would be no more clients today.
I ran back to the table, and got a packet together for them. The van came out in less than 5 minutes.
They stopped at the gate, and the driver already had his window down. There was a young Hispanic couple in the van. The male driver was upset, almost to the point of tears. His female passenger smiled sweetly, but also seemed upset.
I told them that they did not have to kill their baby. I told them that Choices Medical Clinic would help them for free, that I would help, and that I knew lots of people who would help.
The driver nodded but did not speak, (he was very emotional and was trying to keep it together).
The couple looked at the Truth-truck long and hard. I told them that I would pray for them. The driver nodded again.
The driver finally spoke and said that they would come back tomorrow and go to Choices.
I said; "Yes, please go to Choices, but don't come back here!"
He said; "No, No, I will talk to her and we will come to there (meaning Choices).
Please watch for their van tomorrow. They appeared to be very distraught and it seemed like money was their main (maybe only) concern.
They appeared to be in their mid to late twenties. He has very short hair, and short facial hair. She has long black hair and is only a couple (2 or 3) months along in her pregnancy.
The did have the Tiller Information Packet with them.

| Friday the 10th: | CONFIRMED SAVE; Dennis Boone, Tami Gates, Kelsey Gates, Dustin Gates and Mark S. Gietzen:
Background: This is not Dennis Boone's normal shift. He was called in as a "last resort" to fill an Open Hole in the schedule. Dennis had to drive from El Dorado, KS to do it, because we could not find any Wichita people available to take this shift.
Tami Gates and her young adult children, Dustin and Kelsey, were here "BY MISTAKE" so-to-speak, thinking that the Good Friday Rosary event that went from 9:am to noon today at Tiller's gate, was from noon to 3:pm.
I, Mark Gietzen, am of the opinion that nothing happens BY MISTAKE - and that everything that happens, occurs because it is a part of God's plan for us.
At about noon today, a pregnant 23-year-old Wichita State University student named "Kim" drove into Tiller's parking lot, intending to have an early-term abortion today.
A young man from Oklahoma, a co-worker friend of her's, was with Kim. He was here for moral support, and to drive Kim home in the event that she was not able to drive after having the abortion.
Kim is an exceptionally attractive, young, Caucasian lady who has a beautiful smile and sparkling eyes. She looks much younger than 23 years old, and she is a single mother of a baby who is just nine months old, and a toddler who is soon-to-be two. The father of all three of her children is the same man, but there has apparently been some recent relationship troubles between them. In talking to Kim, one gets the impression that the father of her three children is not doing his part, leaving her with an enormous work-load of school work and child care.
She came here to have an abortion, not because she thinks it is a particularly good thing to do, but because she thinks that she simply cannot handle another child alone.
On her way into Tiller's Parking Lot, she would later tell us, ...she caught a glimpse of the graphic billboard picture on the Truth-truck. She went into Tiller's facility anyway, thinking that she was so early in her pregnancy, that her baby was not yet formed
at least not like the picture of the dead baby on the side of the Truth-truck.
While Kim was waiting in Tiller's waiting room, along with a room-full of other abortion-bound clients, someone handed her part of the "Standard KCFL Hand-Out Literature Pack" that an unknown earlier KCFL volunteer had handed out this morning to an unknown abortion client, and which had not been confiscated by Tiller's Security Guard.
Kim began reading the printed material. The more she read, the more uneasy she became about her decision to have an abortion.
When it was her turn, she politely declined to pay the $100 charge for the sonogram, even though she had enough money with her for the sonogram and the abortion.
The Security Guard let her leave, and she returned to the gate specifically to talk to the KCFL Volunteers at the gate. (She said that the guard was nice and that he let her leave without a problem.)
However, when she left Tiller's building, at about 1:30 pm, she was still 90% sure that she was going to have the abortion today
just not 100% sure about it. She wanted more information from us.
This was the first day on-site as a KCFL Volunteer for Tami Gates and her children, (remember they were here "by mistake") and Dennis Boone usually works late night shifts and other after-hours shifts.
Tami said to Kim; "I am sorry, but I really do not know what to do to help you. You got the B-team today
we are not the ones who usually work this shift!"
Dennis and Tami encouraged Kim to go over to Choices Medical Clinic, and she did park her car there. Unfortunately, Choices Medical Clinic was closed today, due to it being Good Friday.
As I usually do on Friday afternoons, I stopped by to check on things after attending the Pachyderm meeting at about 1:45 pm on Fridays. Today, Dennis and Tami were really happy to see me! But unfortunately I could do nothing to open Choices Medical Clinic either, and a free sonogram is what Kim wanted.
Kim agreed to follow me over to "A Better Choice" crisis pregnancy center, because she was afraid that she would get lost along the way, and not find it. Kim wanted a sonogram image, to see if her baby was already formed yet.
We talked about the image on the Truth-truck, and apparently that image alone, was enough to convince her, that she did not want to do that to her baby - if it was already formed.
We called "A Better Choice" but they too were closed for Good Friday. That left us with only one more option.
We called the "Pregnancy Crisis Center" and found that they too were closed. We called every one we could, but could not get help from any of the normal resources that we use.
For a moment, I thought that we were going to loose a life for lack of a sonogram. However, Kim was willing to listen and to consider what we had to say. She could see, that even though we may have been the "B-team" that we were putting forth an "A-team" effort to help her!
With the help of Tami, we got Kim to agree to come back to Choices Medical Clinic on Tuesday after Easter. Dennis Boone gave her additional printed material which she accepted.
I begged Kim not to kill her baby, not only for the sake of the child, but for her own sake. I told her that having an abortion is like cutting half of your own heart out
and that she would never be the same after having an abortion!
Kim replied: "That is the same thing that she said, (pointing to Tami) before you got here ...that it would break my heart for the rest of my life! Kim had never heard that before. She was skeptical, but amused and thoughtful.
I asked Kim; "Do you know if it is a boy or a girl?"
Kim shook her head "No."
I asked; "What if it is a little girl, and she turns out to be just as beautiful as you are?"
No reply - but an appreciative smile, with gears of thought turning in her head...
I said; "You just know,
as pretty as you are, that it is going to be a beautiful child. How are you going to feel about doing that (pointing to the Truth-truck) to another human being
your own baby no less?
At least we were clearly making her think!
Even though Kim was not accepting everything we said, as fact, she was honest and up-front in her comments and questions to us. It appeared to me that Kim had never really been exposed to the abortion argument before.
Kim is a typical product of modern American culture! Not a bad person - to the contrary, an absolutely wonderful young lady, just someone who has never been exposed to the proLife side of the abortion argument.
I told Kim that KCFL, and I personally, will help her with ANYTHING that she would need - direct financial support - help with child care - medical expenses - what ever you need! And I added that, "I hold this offer open from now, until your unborn child turns 18, not just until the day your child is born!"
Although Kim was obviously under some stress, she still had good humor.
She said; "Well
.will you make that 25? - not all kids leave home at 18 any more?"
I said, "In your case - Yes, - we will make that 25!"
We even shook hands on the deal, and she gave her phone number to Tami and I.
Before I left, I tried to enlist the help of Kim's friend from Oklahoma. He is actually happy that Kim is not having the abortion today - and he agreed to call me if things started to go in a bad direction. (He is not the father of the unborn child - just a friend of Kim's.) I was glad to have his help.
After I got back to my home office, I called Kim, at about 3:30 pm, just to make sure that she was not back in Tiller's building, and to ask her if I should record this as at Turn-Around or a Confirmed Save. I explained the difference to her.
Kim was talkative, and she was moved by the care and concern that the volunteers at the gate had shown her today.
Kim told me in the nicest way... that she thought a lot about what we had talked about today, and that she would be keeping this baby.
When Kim said; "You should record it as a CONFIRMED SAVE!" tears of joy filled my eyes, and I was powerless to stop them! I called Tami and Dennis right away to let them know!
It certainly was a Good Friday!
From now on, the words, "Good Friday" will have an additional new meaning for all of us who witnessed this event at Tiller's gate today.
I am so thankful to God for the way things turned out!
Please say a prayer of thanks to God for this wonderful outcome.
We hope to add more to this story in the months and years to come

| Sunday the 29th: | Potential TURN AROUND upgraded to CONFIRMED SAVE: Al Grayson, Jennifer McCoy and Mary LaFrancis;
At 12:49 pm, a black lady and her female friend, who had just arrived in Wichita this morning via the Greyhound Bus from Minneapolis, came to Tiller's gate.
The pregnant one is scheduled for an abortion on Monday, but she does not personally want an abortion; it is her boyfriend who is pushing her into having an abortion. She already paid some money to Tiller before coming to Wichita.
Al Grayson called me, Mark Gietzen, and left a message on my recorder, then he called Jennifer McCoy.
Jennifer McCoy and Mary LaFrancis, who is staying with her, both came out on-site and picked up the two ladies.
In the mean time, while waiting on her ride, Al showed her various pieces of printed material. The pregnant lady was also interested in the pictures on the Truth-truck.
Even prior to being picked up by Jennifer and Mary LaFrancis, she was asking Al about getting her money back from Tiller.
Please pray that this will become a successful save.
(Much Additional Information - withheld.)
(More later as it happens.) |
| Thursday the 2nd: | ONE (1) CONFIRMED SAVE and TWO (2) TURN-AROUNDS; Jennifer McCoy, Mary LaFrancis and Margaret Mans:
At about 12:30 pm, two young Hispanic ladies (one 18-year-old, and one 20-something year-old) from Liberal, Kansas, came southbound on Bleckley Street, and began to enter The Choices Medical Clinic Parking Lot.
By chance, a Choices Volunteer was in the Choices Parking Lot, and she talked to them for a few minutes. Then the car left Choices, and approached Tiller's driveway. However, Jennifer was able to stop the car, prior to it entering Tiller's Parking Lot.
The 18-year-old lady was driving, but the car belongs to the 20-year-old. Both ladies came to Wichita to have an abortion today. The 18-year-old is 14 weeks pregnant, and the 20 year-old is between 3-and-6 weeks pregnant.
Jennifer and Mary LaFrancis talked to them, and gave them the Standard Literature Pack, plus some Spanish language literature.
Eventually, after talking to Jennifer and Mary, and after viewing the Truth-truck, the younger one started to have second thoughts about having an abortion.
The 20 year-old lady thinks that since she is only 3-to-6 weeks pregnant, that "it is not a baby yet
" and she was intent on having an abortion. She said that it would be an "abortion-by-pill." She also told Jennifer that this baby was the product of rape.
The 18-year-old lady is pregnant by her boyfriend, but she is having relationship trouble with him right now. She left Liberal, Kansas this morning, fully intending to have an abortion today. However, after looking at the literature and talking to Jennifer and Mary LaFrancis, she completely changed her mind about having an abortion.
Jennifer thinks that her viewing of the Truth-truck images (at Jennifer's urging), while parked near Tiller's gate, had a lot to do with her decision not to go through with the abortion. Jennifer was able to use the Truth-truck images in much the same way as a teacher in a classroom uses a chalkboard.
Because both of these Hispanic ladies had some difficulty with English, Jennifer called her bi-lingual friend, Rhonda, (See Lady Valentina's Story under the NEWS tab of this website - May 26, 2008). Rhonda talked to each of them individually and at length, via Jennifer's cell phone.
After talking about 15 minutes at Tiller's Gate, the 20-year-old lady, got out of her car, and walked into Tiller's building alone. As she left, the 18-year-old driver, told her friend, in Spanish, to meet her at Choices Medical Clinic.
The 18-year-old then drove next door to the Choice Medical Clinic Parking Lot and went inside.
After being in the proLife Choices Medical Clinic, for a short time, the 18-year-old came back out to get something from her car. At that point in time, she came back to Tiller's gate - gave Jennifer a hug, and talked in more detail to Jennifer. She was obviously in an emotional state, but happy with the decision that she had just made! No woman really wants to kill her baby, and this young lady realized the importance of the decision at hand.
After talking to Jennifer, the 18 year-old went back in to Choices Medical Clinic and stayed in there for over an hour.
Mary LaFrancis had to leave on her trip back to Iowa, but Jennifer stayed through the afternoon to deal with the situation. Margaret Mans' shift started when Mary LaFrancis' shift ended.
When the 18-year-old came out of Choices Medical Clinic, at about 3:30 pm, Margaret Mans offered her a baby blanket, and she gladly accepted it. However, she was concerned that her friend was having an abortion at Tiller's ...which, as we later learned, was exactly the case.
While waiting at the gate, Jennifer and the 18-year-old made plans to go out to get something to eat, prior to her long drive back to Liberal, Kansas.
Telling Jennifer that she would be right back, the 18-year-old went into Tiller's facility, to check on her friend, and to let her know that she was leaving to get something to eat with Jennifer.
However, she did not come back to the gate as anticipated.
After a long wait, of over an hour and a half, Jennifer called me, Mark Gietzen, expressing concern about the 18-year-old. Jennifer was worried that they may have tried to talk her into having an abortion. I recommended that Jennifer call the 18-year-old on Tiller's Office Phone, and I gave her the phone number. (Note: Tiller's security guards always take the cell phones away from their clients - to prevent pictures and communications from getting out.)
Tiller's receptionist, Deborah Esquina, took Jennifer's phone call, and put the 18-year-old on the phone with Jennifer.
The 18-year-old told Jennifer that she was waiting to get the car keys back from her friend and would be right out.
However, again, Jennifer waited at the gate for more than 30 minutes, during which time Tiller's Security Guard held the 18-year-old inside, completely against her will.
Knowing that something was wrong, Jennifer called the Wichita, Police. However, before the Wichita Police could respond, the two Hispanic ladies came out. The 20-year-old had been vomiting, and was in very bad shape.
Only when the 20 year-old was ready to go, did Tiller's Security Guard allow the 18-year-old to leave the building.
(Note: Tiller's staff likely did not want to be left to care for a vomiting client on their own, while the 18-year-old was out with Jennifer. We know from past experience, that there is nothing on earth that Tiller's staff hates more, than having to wait for a spouse or friend to pick-up an incapacitated client - especially if it causes them to stay beyond normal closing time.)
The two Hispanic ladies returned to Tiller's gate to talk to Jennifer, but the conversation was short, because the 20-year-old was very sick. She said that she had "the pill" and not a surgical abortion.
They left then for Liberal, Kansas.
<< UPDATE 2009-Apr-10 >>
The 18-year old called Jennifer by phone and thanked her for her help. She has gotten back together with her boyfriend and they are now looking forward to having the baby. Jennifer's Church is preparing a "Care Package for the 18-year old and her baby.
<< UPDATE 2009-Jul-7 >>
The 18-year old called Jennifer again by phone and told Jennifer that her due date has been established at October-06, and that she is carrying a baby boy. Jennifer is preparing a baby shower for her.
TURN-AROUND-1
While waiting on the above case, Jennifer was involved in two Turn-Arounds.
At about 1 pm, while Jennifer was waiting on the above 18-year-old, a white Ford Mustang carrying a young Hispanic couple - who could hardly speak English, came into Tiller's Parking Lot. They did not stop for Jennifer at the gate, although Jennifer had tried to stop them to give them printed literature.
But, a few minutes after going in to Tiller's Parking Lot, they came back to Tiller's gate and took the literature from Jennifer.
In spite of the language barrier, Jennifer was able to get them to go to Choices Medical Clinic. They stayed in Choices for about an hour.
When they came back out, the accepted a baby blanket from Jennifer.
NOTE: The ONLY reason that this is not being counted as a Confirmed Save is that the language barrier prevented Jennifer from getting the verbal confirmation of the save that we require, in order for it to be counted at 100%. (Turn-Arounds are counted at 50%.)
TURN-AROUND-2:
A young Caucasian couple, drove past Tiller's gate twice, in a grey sedan with Kansas tags. They looked at the Truth-Truck, but did not want to talk to Jennifer.
Finally, they parked their car on Orme Street, and walked to Tiller's gate, walking arm-in-arm, talking to each other. They were headed into Tiller's parking lot, but they could not decide what to do.
They still did not want to talk to Jennifer, but Jennifer offered then help anyway, trying to get them to go to Choices Medical Clinic.
Finally, they took Jennifer's advice, and went into Choices, where they stayed in for about an hour.
On their way out, they were still holding each other's hands, but they were a lot happier.
They smiled and waved to Jennifer as they left. |
| Friday the 3rd: | TURN-AROUND; Janet Moore:
This report comes directly from Janet via e-mail.
Dear Mark,
Regarding the turnaround last Friday, this is what took place:
I was busy, calling out to some people who had just gone into Tiller's, when a Hispanic couple came up from behind me. They seemed to be interested in what I was saying, so I gave them some literature and they continued to walk northbound up the sidewalk along side Tiller's building, speaking in Spanish.
As I continued to call out to the people who had just entered the abortion clinic, I watched the Hispanic couple walk further away from Tiller's gate. When they got to the corner, they turned right, and continued eastbound along Kellogg-- they seemed moved by the crosses and the statues.
Then, moments later, I noticed them walking toward me again, back from Kellogg. They had apparently been looking for an entrance to Tiller's building. They seemed visibly upset, (as the woman was talking on a cell phone and the man kept looking at the Truth Truck).
The man almost walked into Tiller's, but instead followed the woman past me. Now, I realized that they had mistakenly parked in Choices next door.
They exited the Choices Parking Lot in a truck, and then turned into Tiller's Parking Lot.
I was very distraught as I saw them enter the abortuary, so I called out to them, saying that I could tell this was the last thing they wanted to do. I had seen a rosary hanging from the rearview mirror, so I asked them to pray to Jesus and Mary and that they would help them choose life!
I continued to call out and pray for them.
About 3 or 4 minutes later, they returned to the gate and left Tiller's. They did not return.

| Friday the 3rd: | TURN-AROUND; Troy Pulver:
At about 12:20 pm, a new gold sedan, with a new-car temporary paper license plate approached Tiller's gate and stopped to accept literature from KCFL on-site volunteer, Troy Pulver.
The driver was a young (late teen or early 20s) Hispanic man, and his passenger was a young (late teen or early 20s) Black girl.
In addition to accepting the printed literature that Troy gave to them, this young couple was willing to talk to Troy, and even to pray with Troy, who was standing on Tiller's driveway.
Troy made them think about their child, and he made them realize how serious the decision to kill the child would be.
Nevertheless, they pulled into Tiller's parking lot, and went to the North side.
Troy could not see whether or not they got out of their car. However, about ten minutes later, at about 12:30 pm, they returned to the gate slowly, and left.
They did not return to Tiller's parking lot today.
This vehicle will be put on the WATCH LIST for one week. |

| Monday the 16th: | TURN-AROUND, Jennifer McCoy:
At about 2:00 pm, just as one car was leaving Tiller's Parking lot, another was entering Tiller's Parking lot, and there was a momentary traffic jam at Tiller's gate.
Jennifer took advantage of the situation, and approached the Green SUV, which was leaving Tiller's Parking Lot. It had Kansas tags (tag number is on file), and the lady driver willingly opened her window to talk to Jennifer.
This black lady driver, who appears to be in her early 20's, "Tierria" told Jennifer, that her Kansas SRS Medical Case Worker had directed her to Tiller's for a Pregnancy Test to determine how far along she is. (She already knows that she is pregnant.)
However, perhaps due to the Court Activity, and possibly due to the fact that Attorney Mark Schoenhofer, had filed a new case againt Tiller today, concerning a recent botched abortion, and had personally served the papers at Tiller's facility today, (on the same day that the jury selections begins for Tiller's trial); Tiller's employees told Tierria to come back in one-week because they did not have time to deal with her today.
Jennifer was able to talk Tierria into going to Choices Medical Clinic, and the young lady obliged.
After talking with Jennifer, Tierria went directly into Choices Medical Clinic, and remained there until after Jennifer left after her shift. |
| Monday the 16th: | TURN-AROUND; Colleen Rose Farran and Brandi Lozier:
At about 2:45 pm, a late model black Chevy Corvette, (tag number on file) approached Tiller's gate. Inside was one dark-haired lady, who appears to be in her middle 20s.
Colleen talked to her, and she was willing to listen. When she found out that the services at Choices Medical Clinic were free, she was interested. Colleen gave her some literature (Brandi's little book) and she was ready to go to Choices as Colleen recommended.
She went in to Tiller's Parking lot only to turn around, and came immediately back out, and went directly to Choices Medical Clinic.
At this time, she has been in Choices Medical Clinic for about 30 minutes (a good sign.)
More later as info becomes available. |
| Thursday the 19th: | CONFIRMED SAVE; Mary LaFrancis and Jennifer McCoy:
At about 2:30 pm, a pregnant young black lady who appears to be about 20 years old, came walking southbound on the Bleckley Street sidewalk, alongside the KCFL Cross display.
Seeing her coming toward Tiller's gate, Jennifer McCoy hurried northbound on the sidewalk to meet her in a location as far from Tiller's gate as possible, in order to maximize the time that she would have with her.
Mary LaFrancis, who is here to help with the 40-Days for Life project, is a Registered Nurse from Iowa, and she was on-site in her Nurse's clothing, to replace Jennifer McCoy at the gate. Mary stayed at the gate while Jennifer went north on the sidewalk to meet with the young black lady.
The young black lady had apparently walked from the Wichita Suites hotel, or for lack of parking in Tiller's lot, had parked in the Dopp's Chiropractic Parking Lot, and she had an appointment at Tiller's today.
In any case the young lady was very willing to talk to Jennifer and to listen to Mary LaFrancis. She could see that Mary is a nurse, and she listened to all that Mary and Jennifer had to say.
She took all kinds of literature at the gate, and then, after hearing about Tiller's current Trial, and seeing the hand-out literature about Christin Gilbert who died from an abortion at Tiller's, she changed her mind about having an abortion.
By the grace and help of God, she decided instead to go to Choices Medical Clinic, where she remains at the time of this posting. |
| Thursday the 19th: | CONFIRMED SAVE: Jennifer McCoy & Mary LaFrancis (fm Iowa).
At about 2:05 pm, while Jennifer McCoy was on site with Mary LaFrancis, she noticed a Tiller Employee, who is not handicapped, parked in a handicapped Parking Stall, in Tiller's parking lot.
Against the advice of Mark Gietzen, who, did not want Jennifer to unnecessarily antagonize the Tiller employee, Jennifer made a phone call to the Wichita Police at the East Edgemoor Substation.
The Wichita Police arrived on-site to investigate the matter, and to issue a ticket at about 2:20 pm.
The Wichita Police went inside Tiller's building, and some of Tiller's employees and clients came out to move their cars. (The parking lot is so full, that several Tiller clients were double parked.)
As it turned out, the handicapped parking stall had been moved, to the front of Tiller's building, and an abortion client was illegally parked in that stall.
The Tiller client who was parked in the handicapped stall, was a middle-aged lady from Missouri, who had bought her 17 year-old daughter here for an abortion today. Her daughter, who is 17 weeks pregnant, came out with her Mom when she was told to move her car, and once she was outside of Tiller's building, the daughter, who was crying, did not want to go back inside!
They had not yet had their abortion, and the Mother was a bit unhappy, because Tiller's Security Guard had told her to park in that handicapped parking stall.
By the grace of God Above, instead of going back inside, the Mother and her upset daughter came to the gate to talk to Jennifer and Mary LaFrancis, instead of going back inside.
The mother took all of the hand-out literature that Jennifer and Mary LaFrancis gave her, while the daughter was too emotional to communicate.
Nevertheless, the Mother (grandmother) confirmed that they did not feel right about having an abortion, and said that she felt relieved that they had decided against having the abortion.
They did not feel it was necessary to go to Choices Medical Clinic, but before they left, Jennifer gave them my (Mark Gietzen's) phone number, to be used in case they need help for any reason.
This save was clearly the work of God. The Mother repeated said: "I do not know what made us change our mind
" |
| Friday the 20th: | CONFIRMED SAVE - Brandi Lozier, Catherine Grayson, Mary LaFrancis and Sherry Walsh:
Brandi Lozier, a 40-Days for Life KCFL Volunteer from Louisiana, was working the gate for over five hours today. Brandi, herself, an abortion survivor is a strong advocate for the unborn at Tiller's gate.
At 2:15 pm, a white sedan with Kansas Tags, carrying four young people, two Hispanic ladies in the front seat, and their two boyfriends in the back seat, stopped on Tiller's driveway to talk to Brandi and the other on-site volunteers.
(In spite of there being four KCFL Volunteers on-site at the time, no one got the tag number, likely because they were so interested in the interaction with the one person in the car who was willing to speak freely with the volunteers at the gate. Also, it is unclear from the hand-written notes if only one, or if both of the girls in the vehicle is pregnant - and if so, if both were intending on having an abortion today.)
But in any case, one of the girls is certainly pregnant and she was here for an early-term abortion today. She not only accepted our literature, but she did most of the talking for all four occupants of the vehicle. (There may have been a language barrier with the other three, and there was an indication that these are NOT local people, but rather that they are from somewhere outside of Sedgwick County, Kansas, most likely from Western Kansas.)
The one who spoke English well, asked a lot of questions, mostly about the why the volunteers were at the gate.
Ironically, she did not ask questions about her baby, nor about help for herself. Rather, she wanted to know if the volunteer's on-site were being paid for being there.
When she learned that no-one on-site is paid for being there, she was amazed and asked more questions!
She asked: (words to the effect of) "
so you are here only because you care about me and my baby, even though it is not born yet? ...and you don't even get paid for it?"
In the end, she came to the conclusion that if the KCFL volunteers are there at the gate ONLY because they care about the babies and the mothers, then the babies must be "real".
She said that after talking to the volunteers, that; "...there was no way that I could have an abortion now - after talking to you
It doesn't seem like that is what God wants me to do!"
The KCFL volunteers offered help at Choices Medical Clinic, but, speaking for all four, the young lady declined.
Then, in a way that only someone in her youth could do, mere minutes after deciding against having her own scheduled abortion, the girl said that she wanted to; "
do what you are doing, and help people like you guys are doing!"
What an amazing example of both the beauty and the power of THE TRUTH!
What an example, of the willingness of a young person to make the right decision, when she finally "gets it" and understands it.
Like the Apostle Paul, who is converted to Christ while on his way to persecute Christians, this young Hispanic Girl is arrived at Tiller's gate today, intending to kill her own child. Instead, she left, wanting to join the KCFL volunteers who so generously give their time at Tiller's gate.
Before she left, the on-site volunteers gave her my, (Mark Gietzen's) contact information.
So far, as of early April, she has not yet contacted me.
We hope to add more to this story later! |
| Friday the 20th: | TURN-AROUND - Mary LaFrancis, Brandi Lozier, Catherine Grayson, and Sherry Walsh:
Mary LaFrancis, a 40-Days for Life KCFL Volunteer from Iowa, was working the gate for seven hours today, dressed in her Registered Nurse's White Uniform, and wearing a Stethoscope. She is able to speak effectively to potential Tiller clients.
At 1:58 pm, a red Saturn with Sedgwick County Kansas Tags (tag number on file) stopped on Tiller's driveway to accept printed literature from Mary and the other volunteers who were on-site with Mary.
In the car was a young African-American couple, (not married) but with a baby in the back seat, in a child's car seat. They were here for an early-term abortion.
After talking for a long time (?) to Mary and after looking at the literature, they went into Tiller's parking lot - apparently to talk things over between the two of them.
Three minutes later, at 2:01 pm, they came back out of Tiller's Parking Lot, having never gotten out of their car.
This vehicle did not return to Tiller's facility.
Based on the communication and interaction with the volunteers on-site, this is very highly likely to be a confirmed save, however it is being counted only as a Turn-Around (counted at 50%) because we did not get verbal confirmation from the mother that she is keeping the baby.
We thank God that this mother, who entered Tiller's parking lot with two young children in good healthy condition, left with two children in good healthy condition
one in the car seat, and one in her womb.
We also thank God for volunteers like Mary LaFrancis who travel long distances at their own expense to do what they can to promote good and to oppose the evil act of abortion. |

| Friday the 6th: | CONFIRMED SAVE; Brandi Lozier and Donna Lampkin:
At about 2:45 pm an older white Chevy Astro Van, with Sedgwick County, Kansas tags (tag number is on file), carrying a young Caucasian couple, who are in their late 20's or early 30's), approached the gate of the Tiller Abortion Facility in Wichita, Kansas.
They did not stop on their way in, however, the man simply dropped the lady off at Abortionist Tiller's door, and returned to the gate to exit the parking lot.
This time, on his way out, he stopped at the gate to talk to KCFL Volunteers, Brandi and Donna, who are participating in the 40-Days for Life campaign.
First, the young man accepted the hand-out literature, and he immediately began looking at it. He told Brandi and Donna, that the young lady friend who he bought in was scheduled for an early-term abortion today.
Donna begged him to go back in there immediately, and to bring her to Choices Medical Clinic if they needed help.
This couple was not in need of help.
Brandi, who was holding a large "Baby Malachi Sign" told him strongly; "IF YOU WERE A MAN, YOU WOULD GO RIGHT BACK IN THERE TO GET HER, AND BRING HER OUT!"
In addition to seeing Brandi's Malachi Sign, he was sitting in a position directly facing the Truth-truck.
For a moment the man was thinking about what to do, looking directly at the Truth-truck. Then, he put his vehicle in reverse, and backed-up, back into Tiller's parking lot again, and went back inside.
He was gone for about 5 minutes.
While he was gone, Donna and Brandi were praying for a positive outcome.
When he returned to the gate, their prayers had been answered!
The minute Brandi saw her in the van with him, Brandi and Donna both cheered loudly for them!
The young lady told Brandi and Donna that she decided against having an abortion, and that she is 11 weeks pregnant.
Brandi used the Truth-truck image to further educate the young lady, saying: "That is exactly what your baby would have looked like, if you had gone through with the abortion!"
The young mother was shocked at seeing the Truth-truck image. She just stared at it. (She apparently had not seen it on her way in.)
They stayed and talked for about 10 minutes with Donna and Brandi. (The Security Guard did not bother to come out to usher them off the driveway.)
Donna Lampkin offered the couple a baby blanket, and they willingly accepted it.
It was a rich and rewarding moment!
A young couple who was within minutes of killing their own baby, were parked on Tiller's driveway (outbound) ...sitting in their van, ...looking at the Truth-truck much like a couple in a drive-in theatre sits in a vehicle to watch a drive-in movie.
Instead of leaving a dead baby behind, they were leaving with the youngest member of their family undisturbed. What a beautiful thing to be part of!
The couple did not go to Choices Medical Clinic, but said that they might go there in the future, if they needed help.
Brandi Lozier is a 40-Days for Life Volunteer from Louisiana who spends a lot of time in Wichita, Kansas, at the gate of the worst abortion facility in America, the Tiller Late-term Abortion Facility, which is inappropriately named, Women's Health Care Services.
May God Bless ALL 40-Days for Life Volunteers, and my God bless those who financially support the life-saving Operation Rescue Truth-trucks.
Please continue to pray for the success of the 40-Days for Life campaign. If you have not done so already, please consider taking a prayerful shift at Tiller's gate. If you do not feel called to do a sidewalk counseling shift, then take an after-hours shift.
To schedule a shift at Tiller's gate in Wichita, Kansas, call: 316-522-8866.
40-Days for Life is a 24-hour per day prayerful presence at abortion facilities all over America, and in some other countries. The program was started by David Bereit, formerly the Executive Director of American Life League. The lives of hundreds of babies have been saved by this program of prayerful presence at abortion facilities.

| Friday the 27th: | TURN-AROUND; Janet Moore:
At about 1:08 pm, two black females in a white SUV with Kansas Tags (tag number on file), approached Tiller's driveway and stopped to take literature from Janet Moore, the KCFL Volunteer at the gate.
After taking the literature from Janet, they proceeded into Tiller's parking lot. When they got out of their car, Janet called out to them after they parked, urging them not to kill their unborn child.
They were out of sight, behind Tiller's building. Either they did not go in, or, went in and immediately had a change of heart.
About two minutes later, they went back to their car and left. Janet could see the pregnant passenger as they left, and she was crying. Janet thinks that she had a change-of-mind, however, they did not stop on the way out, at 1:11 pm.
This car did not return to Tiller's today.

| Monday the 16th: | CONFIRMED SAVE: Ann Carlin and Jennifer McCoy:
(Second Confirmed Save Today! This event was occurring simultaneously with the dramatic events with the mixed-race couple, reported under Ann Carlin's name and today's date.)
At about 10:35 am, while KCFL Volunteer Ann Carlin was at the gate, a black Ford SUV with Missouri tags (tag numbers on file) came to Tiller's Gate. They stopped to "ask directions."
In the car was a 2-month pregnant, Hispanic Single-Mother who has two other children, ages 4 and 7 (not with her). The man in the car is a boyfriend who does not want anything to do with the unborn baby. Neither one could speak English very well.
In spite of the language barrier, Ann gave them literature and was able to talk them out of going into Tillers. They backed off Tiller's driveway, and went to Choices Medical Clinic instead.
Once at Choices, they stayed there a long time - which is always a good sign. They were still in the proLife Choices Medical Clinic when Jennifer replaced Ann Carlin on-site at about 12:05 pm.
Unfortunately, the regular Spanish-speaking Choices Medical Clinic volunteer was not at work today, and Choices needed a translator. Fortunately, Jennifer was able to call on her friend, Rhonda, (See "Lady Valentina's Story" May 29, 2008 - http://www.kcfl.net/kcfl/doc/newsr/the%20valentina%20story.pdf, for an introduction to Rhonda). Rhonda acted as the translator both for choices and for KCFL.
The reason that this lady is here for an abortion, is because a friend of her's recommended that she could induce an abortion or a miscarriage on her own, at home, by ingesting seven (7) Alka-Seltzer tablets all at one time, along with some lime. This mix was supposed to cause the baby's heart to stop, and she had hoped that a mis-carriage would follow.
She took the seven Alka-Seltzer and lime a few days ago, as recommended - but it did not have the desired effect of causing a miscarriage.
The Mother came to Tiller's because she is worried that the Alka-Seltzer has damaged the child, and that it will not grow normally.
At this point, she does not want an abortion, unless the Alka-Seltzer has stopped its heart or harmed the baby in some way.
Fortunately, the ultrasound at Choices showed that the baby has a strong heartbeat, and so she is keeping the child. Choices Medical Clinic also alleviated some of her other concerns as well, offering her help and making her comfortable with her decision to keep the baby.
Rhonda - told her about Rocio and baby Valentina, (see the reference above) and she liked the story, and could relate closely to another Hispanic lady's plight.
Jennifer's friend, Rhonda, played a highly important role in this save.
When the couple first got into their car to leave, their car would not start. Fortunately, Jennifer had a booster battery starter - which she used to help them get going. They left for Missouri after getting the car started.
Upon leaving, the mother was apologetic and embarrassed for even considering an abortion, and for attempting to hurt the child with the Alka-Seltzer.
NOTE: I had never heard of Alka-Seltzer being used to induce a miscarriage, and so I went to Google and checked: "Alka-Seltzer and Abortion."
To my surprise, there is a lot of discussion on the Internet on this topic, including both taking the Alka-Seltzer orally and vaginally.
The bottom line is that it does not work very well, if at all, to induce a miscarriage. However, the fact that Alka-Seltzer has 500mg of Aspirin in it, and the fact that aspirin thins the blood is where the idea has some validity. In any case, it is as dangerous for the mother as it is for the unborn child. |
| Monday the 16th: | CONFIRMED SAVE: Ann Carlin and Jennifer McCoy:
At about 11:30 am, a married mixed-race couple (a Black man with a Caucasian wife), in a silver-grey Odyssey Van with Kansas tags, (tag number on file) approached the gate of the Tiller abortion facility in Wichita, KS, which is oddly named: Women's Health Care Services. They were here to have an unborn, 7-week old child killed.
KCFL volunteer, Ann Carlin, stopped the car as it approached Tiller's gate, and asked them to take some proLife literature from her.
The man was very willing to talk to Ann. He not only stopped and rolled down his window to accept the literature, but he also willingly explained why they were here.
This man and his wife have been married for eight years. They have three children in addition to this pregnancy, two boys and one girl, (the oldest is 7 years old). However, about two months ago, they had marriage problems and separated for about two weeks.
During that separation, the wife became pregnant, possibly by another man - who is also an African-American man. She is now seven weeks pregnant, and she is not sure if the father is her husband or the other man. She thinks that most likely the father of her unborn child is not her husband.
One of the factors that caused this couple to consider an abortion today, is that the possible father of the unborn child is a much darker-colored man, than is the husband, and they felt that the husband's non-paternity of the child would be obvious in later years.
In any case, Ann was successful in talking to them about adoption, explaining that she herself was an adopted child.
Ann was able to talk them into going over to the proLife Choice Medical Clinic, which is located next door to Tiller's abortion facility.
At about 12:05 pm, as Ann's replacement, Jennifer McCoy, was coming to take her shift at Tiller's gate, she noticed that the couple was still sitting in their car in Choices Parking Lot, talking to each other, apparently trying to decide what to do. They had not gone into Choices yet.
After telling Jennifer McCoy what was going on, Jennifer and Ann decided to go to the car in Choices Parking lot, and again, to talk to the couple.
One of the things that Jennifer told them, is; " ...it does not matter who the father is. No matter what, this is a child of God, and no one has a right to kill the child!"
Furthermore, the mother estimates that there is a 60-40 chance that her husband is the father of the child anyway.
Sensing that the man needed to hear from another man, Jennifer called me, (Mark Gietzen) on her cell phone, and asked if I would talk to him.
The man was receptive to a conversation with me, and I urged him to forgive his wife for what had happened. I told him that I understand how hard that would be for him.
We talked about both the option of him raising the child as his own, and the option of them putting the child up for adoption. I told him that either of those life-giving options will leave him and his family with much more happiness in their future, than the memory of having killed a child who had done nothing wrong in its life.
I felt like this man appreciated the fact that I understood the seriousness of the offense against him, and that I understood how hard it would be to be forgiving, in this circumstance.
It was hard for me to keep from becoming too emotional on the phone. (Later in the afternoon Jennifer mentioned that the man had tears in his eyes when he was speaking to me on the phone, and I told her; "So did I.")
In any case, the man told me that he would go into Choices Medical Clinic, as I asked him to do, and that he would think things over.
We exchanged contact information before parting ways, and I told him that KCFL would help him and his family in any way that they may need. All we would need is a phone call from him.
However, according to KCFL Volunteer, Jennifer McCoy, the couple NEVER went into Choices Medical Clinic. Rather they sat there and talked at length to Jennifer. (Ann, went back to watch the gate - and she had another incident - reported under Jennifer's name - today's date.)
By the Grace and help of God above, Jennifer was able to convince this couple to make a life saving decision.
Jennifer said that it seemed to her that the woman really did not want to have the abortion in the first place, but that she was willing to "get things right" with her husband.
Jennifer then turned her attention to convincing the man to make a life-saving decision.
The man had asked; "Why is God punishing me so much?"
Jennifer retorted; "A child is never a punishment! A child is ALWAYS a gift from God!
Jennifer went on: "It takes three persons to make a baby: a man, a woman, and God. If any one of those three is not present, then there will not be a new life.
Jennifer said: "Look at Barack Obama, for example. His mom is white, - from here in Kansas, - and his father is black. His father did not want to have much to do with him, and yet Barack is now the President of the United States! Maybe this child will grow up to be the one who finds the cure for cancer
or some other great thing!"
They had talked for about 20 minutes, and now, Jennifer's example of Barack Obama really seemed to have made a difference.
With tears in everyone's eyes, the man said: "Okay, I have heard enough! I have made up my mind. We are keeping this baby and I will raise it as my own!"
At that, the woman got out of the car, and crying even more than she was previously, she ran to Jennifer and gave her a big hug and told her "THANK YOU" several times."
It was an emotion filled moment. One that makes the effort of all the on-site work seem worthwhile.
I thank God for the courage and strength of the husband, and I pray that he will have the ability to truly forgive his wife, and to raise this child as his own.
Ann Carlin also called again - having heard the news from Jennifer. She was very happy with the outcome.
It is such a wonderful feeling, knowing that our efforts made a difference
a difference that will change the world forever.
Please share a prayer of Thanksgiving for this event, and for this unborn child's future life. By the example of Barack Obama, instead of another abortion statistic - we have the potential for a life that will make the world a more wonderful place. |
| Thursday the 19th: | TURN-AROUND - Judi Weldy
Shortly after Judi arried on-site to take her shift, a sedan with Kansas Tags stopped at Tiller's gate, and the occupants accepted literature from Judi. The young couple was also willing to talk to Judi.
After talking for several minutes, they pulled into Tiller's parking lot, and parked on the south side, but only monentarly,
perhaps just to look at the literature.
Then, without ever getting out of their car, they left Tiller's and went directly to the Choices Medical Clinic Parking lot, and went inside. They remained inside beyond the end of Judi's shift, and did not return to Tiller's parking lot. |

| Wednesday the 11th: | CONFIRMED SAVE and TURN-AROUND; Rick Moss, Jennifer Brown, Michelle Herzog and Margaret Weaver:
(Reported via e-mail by Rick Moss)
Mark:
At approximately 12:15 pm, a young Black woman in her 20s named Tiffany, approached Tiller's gate in a black Saab convertible with Kansas plates.
She had a friend and a child in the car with her. I gave her literature and immediately told her that there was free help next door with a complete medical staff and a 4D sonogram available. She said she was scared and that she had already had a sonogram (unfortunately we did not obtain the location of where she had the sonogram) and that the baby was in two parts.
I told her that she should have another sonogram next door and that we would accompany her.
Jenny was with me on-site and went next door with her, to the ProLife Choices Medical Clinic.
She did not come back out during my shift. However, later I received a call from Margaret Weaver, who told me with great enthusiasm that the baby was perfectly healthya boyand that she was going to keep him.
Margaret said that Tiffany was beaming with joy!
Praise the Lord!
Rick Moss
PS: Another event occurred when a red sedan with a gentleman came in, around 1:00 pm and Michelle Herzog approached the vehicle and gave him some literature. He stated that he was here to rescue his girl friend from the clinic, and Michelle encouraged him to do so. According to Michelle the girl friend had not had the abortion yet. Michelle prayed for him and he proceeded in. About a half hour later he came out with his girl friend and gave us the thumbs up sign.
Thanks be to God!
It is great to have good news like this ...and two weeks in a row now!!!
Rick Moss
<<UPDATE>> 2009-Feb-12 11:45 pm
I (Mark Gietzen) called Michelle Herzog to see if she had any further details to add to Rick's e-mail information. Michelle agrees with everything in Rick's e-mail, but she thinks that the second one, the rescue, was in reality, another Confirmed Save
just minus the verbal confirmation.
Since we did not have the verbal "Confirmation" of a save from the mother, we will count this second incident as a Turn-Around only. |

| Wednesday the 4th: | TURN-AROUND; Margaret Weaver and Mark S. Gietzen:
At about 7:55 am, an older-looking, dirty, red, Nissan Altima with Kansas tags, came into Tiller's parking lot. It was driven by an Hispanic lady who appeared to be about 30 years old, and she had a baby in a car-seat in the back seat, who appears to be less than a year old.
At first, she did not stop at the gate to accept literature from Margaret Weaver who was volunteering at the gate at that time. However, a few minutes later, at about 8:01 am, she came back to the gate, still in her car, and voluntarily stopped to talk to Margaret.
Margaret gave her literature, and asked her to go to the proLife Choices Medical Clinic which is located next door to Tiller's facility. But, unfortunately, Choices was not open yet.
The lady was nervous and troubled and did not want to wait around. She left southbound on Bleckley Street.
Unexpectedly, about three minutes later, she came Northbound on Bleckley Street, and approached Choices Medical Clinic, coming to a near stop at the Choices driveway. Seeing it was still closed, she went back into Tiller's parking lot.
But at 8:11 am, she returned again to Tiller's gate, outbound from Tiller's parking lot for the second time this morning. She stopped to talk to me (Mark Gietzen) and I asked her if we could help her.
She apparently did not speak English well, but she seemed to understand what I was saying. She was not crying, but she had a stressful look and demeanor and she had a very sad look on her face.
At one point, when I asked her to wait until Choices opened, she started to roll the window up, as if she were finished talking to me.
Then, just before the window was completely closed, I said: "We can help you, ma'am ...with anything that you need! Please do not kill your baby!"
When her side window was shut, she looked away from me, and turned directly toward the Truth-truck which was in front of her. She appeared to be looking at the picture on the side of the Truth-truck, and made no effort to move her car.
I stood there, while she looked at the Truth-truck, and she rolled the window down again to talk, or "listen" more.
I offered her any help that she needed. I asked; "Do you need money
is it a money problem?"
She indicated "Yes" by nodding her head.
At that point, an out-of-state car with clients in it, approached Tiller's driveway, and the Hispanic lady's car was directly in their way.
As she moved, I tried to get her to go into the Choices parking lot. However, she went southbound again on Bleckley Street, after seeing that Choices was still closed.
I left the area at about 8:14 am.
Margaret Weaver reported that the Hispanic Lady was not seen again through the duration of her Shift. Margaret said that Choices opened after I left, sometime between 8:15 and 8:20 am.
As of 10:15 am, no one at the gate has reported seeing her, or the red Nissan Altima, at either Tiller's or Choices Medical Clinic.
<<<UPDATE>>> As of 1:30 pm, no sign of the Red Altima, reported by volunteers at the gate. Note that two other incidents are underway this afternoon. |
| Wednesday the 4th: | CONFIRMED SAVE; Cathy Somes:
While Cathy Somes was on site, a 45 year old man who was alone in a white Jeep, stopped his Jeep on Bleckley Street directly in front of Tiller's driveway, (parallel to the Truth-truck, but on the opposite side of the street).
He began talking to Cathy about the Truth-truck, and at first Cathy thought that he was just a curious, friendly, passer-by. However, he was anything but friendly!
Getting out of his Jeep, and walking toward Cathy, this man who is about 6' 2" tall, became angry with Cathy, and told her that his girlfriend had aborted his child, (years ago), and that there was nothing that he could do about it
His main point was that he was tired of us, quote: "
THROWING THIS TRASH IN MY FACE!" gesturing to the Truth-truck.
The man eventually told Cathy that he is 45, married, and that his wife cannot have kids.
According to Cathy, he is obviously hurting inside.
Cathy said: "I will pray for you!"
When the man replied in a threatening way, "DON'T PRAY FOR ME!" Cathy was somewhat worried that he might physically assault her.
The man, who is about 6' 2" tall, continued his aggressive behavior, complaining about not wanting to be reminded of a his dead baby!
Just then, at about 10:20 am, with this angry man's Jeep still obstructing Tiller's driveway, a beautiful, 19 year-old Caucasian college student in a silver Altima, approached Tiller's entrance. However, she could not get past the angry man's Jeep to enter Tiller's parking lot.
Actually, this young lady had circled around the block, once, while the angry man was arguing with Cathy. This time she stopped
intent on entering Tiller's Parking Lot.
(We are withholding all other identifying information about this 19 year-old pregnant girl - because the information that we have is too specific. Her first name starts with a "K" so I will refer to her only as "K".)
K waited for the man to move his Jeep, and as he move out of the way, she entered Tiller's driveway. However, as that was happening, Cathy successfully started a personal conversation with her.
(Had it not been for the angry man's vehicle which was parked in the way, Cathy said that she would likely not have had the opportunity to talk to K.)
K looked scared - Cathy asked her if she was scared.
K quietly said "Yes".
Cathy must have said just the right things to K, because after the angry man left, Cathy continued to talk to this beautiful young lady, at length, and Cathy was undoubtedly a Godsend for her.
K is from a good, faith-filled, family who live in another state out west. She is here in Kansas on her own, working in an exciting career, and at the same time, she is going to college.
K is pregnant, but she does not really want an abortion. She is in a predicament and she does not know what to do.
While talking to this wonderful girl, Cathy became an instant friend to her.
After answering many questions, and telling her that she had options, Cathy asked her to go to the proLife Choices Medical Clinic, which is next door to Tiller's abortion facility.
K was too scared to go in to Choices by herself, so Cathy asked K if she would go, if she were to come with her.
K said "Yes".
At that point, Cathy called me to say that she was going to Choices with K, and that she was not abandoning the Crosses, incase Tiller's Security or the Wichita Police were to question that.
Cathy and K went into Choices, and Cathy did not just introduce K, and leave. Rather, Cathy stayed with K until the time was right to leave. That was at about 10:40 am.
When Cathy left her in the good hands of the people at Choices Medical Clinic - K gave Cathy a big hug. There was already a close bond between Cathy and K, in just that short time.
At about 1:pm, Rick Moss, who had replaced Cathy Somes on-site, reported that K had left Choices Medical Clinic, and did not return to Tillers. K had been in Choices Medical Clinic for over two hours.
This is being counted as a CONFIRMED SAVE due to the connection between Cathy and K, and the communication which they had.
(There is much more to this Incident Report which cannot be reported publicly.)
Please say a prayer of Thanksgiving for this save, and a prayer for K, that she will have the strength to endure all that lays ahead. (She has not yet told her family about her pregnancy.) |
| Wednesday the 4th: | TURN-AROUND; Rick Moss and Michelle Herzog:
At about 1:10 pm, a white sedan Infinity, 4 door, with Nebraska plates, (tag number is on-file.) approached the gate of Tiller's Late-Term Abortion Facility. The car was being driven by a Middle-Eastern-looking couple, who we later learned, are here to abort a child who is 22-weeks in gestation.
Rick Moss offered them literature at the gate, and they stopped to take it. In a brief conversation with them, Rick told them about Tiller being under investigation, and he encouraged them to go to the proLife Choices Medical Clinic, which is located next door to Tiller's facility.
They told Rick, "Thank you" but then they went on into Tiller's facility anyway. However, they kept the literature that Rick had given to them.
Then at about 1:34 pm, they came out of Tiller's parking lot again, and they stopped at the gate to talk.
This time, they spoke with Michelle, who encouraged them to go to Choices Medical Clinic.
They asked Michelle if they did 4-D sonograms at Choices Medical Clinic, and Michelle told them, "Yes".
They told Michelle that they had just had sonogram done at Tillers, which indicated that she is 22 weeks pregnant, but that Tiller's personnel would NOT let them see the images.
It was interesting that they had kept the printed material that Rick gave to them. They commented that a photo of a 22 week old baby was about the same age as their unborn child.
They went directly to Choices Medical Clinic, and remained inside Choices beyond the end of Rick's shift.
(Normally, the longer they stay in Choices Medical Clinic - the better.)
We will update this as more information becomes available.
NOTE: The curious thing about this incident, is that it would be uncommon for someone to drive from out-of-state for a late-term abortion, without having an appointment - and without knowing the gestational age of the child. Sonograms are cheap and easily available practically everywhere. If they were here by appointment, we would expect that the unborn child would have been killed by injection on Tuesday (yesterday). This being Wednesday, most Tiller clients, who are carrying babies of that age are carrying dead babies today, waiting to deliver the infant's dead body later in the week. There is something odd about this couple's situation that does not fit the normal pattern. |
| Friday the 6th: | TURN-AROUND; Janet Moore:
(Reported via e-mail, 2009-Feb-09)
Dear Mark,
I wanted to tell you about a turn-around on Friday!!!!!!!!!
There are notes in the book, but it was an African American couple in a light green suv. They paused considerably when seeing me praying at the corner of Kellogg and Bleckley Streets, and then they continued inside the gate at Tiller's. I walked toward the gate and noticed they were sitting inside their vehicle. I called out to them for about a minute -- hoping to plant some seeds of hope.
They remained in the vehicle another 5-8 minutes and when getting out, the male looked directly at me, and I asked from the gate if there was anything I could do to help them. When I saw them continue to walk into Tiller's, I turned around. The next thing I saw, they were both in the vehicle leaving- probably 20 seconds later.

| Monday the 26th: | TURN-AROUND, Ann Carlin and Joseph Elmore:
Around 11:52 am, prior to Joe Elmore being on-site, two young black ladies in a blue sedan with Kansas tags, (tag number on file) left the proLife Choices Medical Clinic, and drove into Tiller's parking lot.
They stayed in Tiller's for about 7 minutes, only long enough to get an information pack. As they left Tiller's parking lot, Ann Carlin was able to stop the vehicle.
They stopped on Bleckley Street, right next to the Truth-truck, and in a good position to view the photos on the side of the Truth-truck.
Joe Elmore, arrived on-site early to do a short-notice fill-in shift at noon at Tiller's gate, just as Ann had stopped the car. Both Joe and Ann were able to engage these two ladies in a conversation for about 10 minutes.
The driver, who is a friend of the pregnant lady passenger, happened to be someone who Joe recognized, because she goes to the same church that Joe goes to. She was very receptive to what Joe had to say.
Ann told the pregnant lady that she herself was an adopted child, and this too had an impact on both of them.
Both Ann and Joe felt that the 10 minute conversation went well, and that there is a good chance that she will keep her baby, or will put it up for adoption.
Aside from talking about the T-truck photos, one of the ladies asked if Joe and Ann were being paid to be out in the cold at Tiller's gate. They were amazed that the KCFL volunteers care enough to be out in the cold, just for the chance to save a baby's life.
This is being counted as a Turn-Around only, at this point, with the hope that we will have more information later.
This vehicle will be put on the Watch List for the rest of the week. |
| Thursday the 29th: | CONFIRMED SAVE; Betty Bailey, Cindee Hodges, Margaret Mans and Isaac Hathaway:
At about 12:15 pm, while Isaac and Betty were at Tiller's gate, a grey 4-door Sedan carrying a young black couple (both in their early or mid 20's), drove up to Tiller's gate and stopped on the driveway to accept literature from the volunteers.
In the back seat of the car was their beautiful eight-month old daughter in a child-car-seat.
They had an appointment for an early-term abortion. Their only reason for considering an abortion was financial concerns.
After several minutes of intense conversation, Isaac and Betty were able to convince them to go to the proLife Choices Medical Clinic, which is located next door to Tiller's abortion facility.
The young lady went in to Choices alone, and the young man stayed in the car, in Choices Parking lot. Isaac went over and continued talking to him.
KCFL Volunteer, Cindy Hodges replaced Isaac at 12:30 pm, and was made aware of the situation. A hand-made baby blanket was given to the young man, and he accepted it.
Eventually, the young man and the baby went in to Choices Medical Clinic to join the young mother.
At about 2:pm, Margaret Mans replaced Cindee Hodges on-site, and again - Margaret was made aware of the situation.
At about 2:35 pm, the young family came out of Choices Medical Clinic, and they were carrying sonogram pictures of the youngest member of their family.
They had an emotion-filled talk with Margaret, and confirmed to her, that they would NOT be keeping, or re-scheduling the abortion appointment, because they were keeping the baby!!!
Margaret Mans called and reported the confirmation at about 2:47 pm.
We thank God for helping us to help this young family, and we thank the good people at Choices Medical Clinic for the wonderful work that they do.
(NOTE: This Confirmed Save has really raised the spirits of all the KCFL Volunteers. This young family was minutes away from making a horrible mistake, one that could never be reversed.
However, because we offered help
because we cared enough to be there
because, with God's help, we said and did the right things
we were able to make a difference. A big difference! The baby whose life was saved today could become a great person. He or she could be a parent someday with children and grandchildren!
Every KCFL volunteer who has ever taken a shift at Tiller's gate, has a reason to be pleased about this event. Because of people who take a shift at Tiller's gate, at about 2:45 pm, this afternoon, a young family - all four of them - left, with the youngest member of their family alive and well! |

| Monday the 5th: | CONFIRMED SAVE; Jennifer McCoy:
At about 1:00 pm, a young black lady, who appears to be in her middle 20's, approached Tiller's gate, in a silver-grey Jeep, and stopped to talk to Jennifer.
Jennifer talked to her for a long time, while she sat in her vehicle on Tiller's driveway (over five minutes). Eventually, Jennifer was able to convince her to go to the proLife Choices Medical Clinic, which is located next door to Tiller's Abortion Facility. The young lady was friendly and appreciated Jennifer's offer of help. She even gave Jennifer her name.
She remained in Choices Medical Clinic for about an hour and twenty minutes, and when she came out, she was carrying printed materials and videos that had been given to her. She again talked to Jennifer before leaving.
Prior to parting ways, she accepted a baby blanket from Jennifer. |
| Thursday the 8th: | TURN-AROUND - Upgraded to a CONFIRMED SAVE; Isaac Hathaway:
At about 11:43 am, two Hispanic ladies in an older red Toyota Camry with Sedgwick County, Kansas tags slowly approached Tillers gate.
KCFL volunteer, Isaac Hathaway approached the vehicle and tried to get it to stop.
The front-end of the vehicle was already past the sidewalk and in Tiller's parking lot, when the vehicle stopped.
An Hispanic lady, who looked to be about 30 years old, who was in the passenger side, took the literature from Isaac.
Isaac begged them to please back-up, and to go to the ProLife Choices Medical Clinic, which is next door to Tiller's abortion facility.
The two ladies, who appeared to be friends, and are of the same approximate age, first looked at each other, then paused for a few seconds, thinking.
Then, by the Grace-Of-God, they backed up, out of Tiller's parking lot, and at about 11:45 they had parked in Choices parking lot.
The whole event lasted about 2 minutes ...and likely saved the life of a child!
An hour later, when Isaac left at 12:45, both ladies were still inside Choices Medical Clinic. This is another positive sign. Nevertheless, we are counting this as a Turn-Around only, (counted at 50%) until we have a confirmation of the save.
Please pray that 2009 is a successful year for KCFL volunteers who are at Tiller's gate.
Our daily goal is to save every life that is possible to save. Our long-term goal is to close Tiller's abortion facility due to a lack of clients going in.
<<UPDATE 2008-Jan-8 4:00 pm >>
The two ladies turned out to be a "well kept" Mother and Daughter, with the Daughter being 14 weeks pregnant with a little boy. They showed their sonogram photos to KCFL Volunteer, Margaret Mans, who was at the gate when they came out at 2:50 pm. Margaret Mans offered them a baby blanket, and they accepted it.
This Turn-Around is being upgraded to a Confirmed Save. |

| Monday the 22nd: | TURN-AROUND; Jennifer McCoy & Joseph Elmore:
At about 12:08 pm, a young Black girl, (teen or early 20's) with two older Black ladies came south on Bleckley Street, in a grey 4-door sedan with Sedgwick County Kansas tags, and appeared confused as to whether to turn into Tiller's Parking Lot or the Choice Medical Clinic Parking lot.
They parked in The Choices Medical Clinic Parking Lot. (Choices is closed until January 2009.) Jennifer went over to talk to them, while Joseph Elmore waited at the gate.
Jennifer was able to speak to them for about five minutes, and they accepted the literature that she gave to them.
Unfortunately, after talking with Jennifer, they still wanted to go in to Tillers. They did not stop for Joseph at the gate, entering Tiller's parking lot at about 12:15 pm. They had told Jennifer that they had an appointment for an abortion at 1:00 pm.
At 12:30 PM, Tiller arrived on-site.
Then, at 1:45 pm, the thee women came out of Tiller's parking lot, and the one that was pregnant, was smiling, and waved the literature in a friendly way to Jennifer as they left.
We are counting this as a Turn-Around for three reasons: (a.) They had not been in Tiller's long enough to have had an abortion, unless it was rushed, and unless the abortion occurred ahead of their appointed time, and unless they waived the two-hour post abortion waiting period. (b.) The demeanor of the pregnant lady, upon leaving Tiller's gate, was not that of a post-abortive woman. And, (c.) the fact that the pregnant lady still had the literature, and used it to communicate with Jennifer on the way out, is a good indication that no abortion occurred.
NOTE: TURN-AROUNDS are counted at 50% due to the uncertainties involved. Only CONFIRMED SAVES are counted at 100%. |

| Monday the 8th: | CONFIRMED SAVE: Jennifer McCoy:
At about the same time Annie Sperle (Jennifer's eight-year-old daughter) was taking Lauren into Choices Medical Clinic (see separate incident report) two black people in a white car with Kansas tags, were leaving Choices Medical Clinic.
They were a young couple, a young clean-cut man in his early 20's and a well-dressed lady about the same age. They left Choices parking lot and approached Tiller's driveway.
Jennifer stopped them at the gate and they were willing to talk.
Jennifer gave them the standard hand-out information.
While Jennifer was talking to the lady, the young man read the "Christin Gilbert Flyer", all while sitting on Tiller's Driveway, with the car idling. After reading it, he handed it to the lady, and after she read it, she said to the young man; "
no, no, we can't go in here!"
Referring to the KCFL Christian Gilbert News Release, the young man asked Jennifer; "How does he get away with this?"
Jennifer explained his relationship to the District Attorney, and gave them more material.
The more they talked to Jennifer, the more convinced they were, that an abortion is a bad decision. They are now committed to keeping the baby.
They entered Tiller's Parking Lot only long enough to turn their car around and leave! |
| Monday the 8th: | CONFIRMED SAVE: Annie Sperle, (8 years old) and her mother, Jennifer McCoy.
Annie Sperle, who is in the 2nd Grade, did not have school today because today is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. God used Annie in a special way today.
At about 12:15 pm, a red four-door sedan with Kansas tags approached Tiller's driveway, and stopped at the gate for Annie and Jennifer.
Jennifer was sitting down, holding a child, so Annie ran up to her window with the literature in her hand. The lady, a 22 year-old, Caucasian blond haired single girl, whose name is Lauren, smiled and said "Thank You" to little Annie.
Unfortunately Lauren then continued on in to Tiller's parking lot, and disappeared from view at the gate.
About a 1/2 hour later, she came back to the gate in her car, but she was crying.
She stopped at the gate again, and Jennifer offered her more printed material. (She had a Tiller information pack next to her in the car.) Again, little Annie handed the literature to her.
While handing her the material, Annie told the crying Lauren; "You can get free help next door!"
Lauren talked for a few minutes to Jennifer and Annie. She said that she first intended to have an abortion right away following the pregnancy test, (she already knew she was pregnant), but she changed her mind about having the abortion.
She agreed to go next door to the ProLife Choices Medical Clinic. Little Annie ran over to the Choices Parking Lot, and took her hand when she got out of her car, and walked her to the Choices Medical Clinic entrance.
While they were walking to the door, Lauren told Annie that she changed her mind because she read the literature that Annie had given her!
Jennifer and Annie waited for Lauren to come out of Choices Medical Clinic, and when she did, they were able to talk to her some more.
With tears in her eyes, Lauren told Annie (three times) "You saved a baby's life today!"
Lauren, who has hair identical to that of little Annie's hair, already has a 5-month old baby, by the same father, and she is hoping to get married to him some day soon.
Lauren asked Jennifer; "How many babies are saved at the last minute like this?"
Jennifer said; "I think about 100 per year."
Lauren said: "Well,
it made a difference today!"
Before they parted ways, Lauren took a small piece of paper and wrote her phone number on it, and gave it to Annie - so that they can stay in touch.
(Annie wanted to hold that paper in a photograph that I took of her. It is now on file with today's schedule.)
<< UPDATE 2008-Dec-09 >>
Jennifer arranged a 3-way phone call with Lauren. She seems like a very nice young lady. I offered her any help that she may need, financial or otherwise. She declined saying that at the moment she had family that is helping her.
I told her that she is welcome to call us any time in the future, if she needs help. |

| Monday the 1st: | CONFIRMED SAVE (Upgraded from a Turn-Around on Dec-2); Jennifer McCoy:
At about 1: pm, while Jennifer McCoy was taking her shift at the gate of the Tiller Late-term Abortion Facility in Wichita, Kansas, a car came out of the ProLife Choices Medical Clinic, which is next door to Tiller's facility, and approached Tiller's driveway.
It was a young black woman driver named, Chondra, who is 23 years old. She is pregnant with her 4th baby, and she stopped at the gate to talk to Jennifer.
She first took literature form Jennifer, and then told her what the problem was. She was not here for an abortion, but her friend, Jamie, who is 21 years old, single, and 5 1/2 months pregnant, was already inside of Tiller's building, intending to abort her child. Chondra had been at Choices Medical Clinic, for help with her own pregnancy, and she was upset that her friend was about to kill her child.
(Chondra, is a victim of a forced abortion that occurred when she was 12 years old, and she is strongly against abortion.)
Chondra asked Jennifer for help and advice, in how to keep her friend, Jamie, from having an abortion.
Knowing that Tiller's Security did not know who Chondra was, Jennifer asked her to go inside, with literature (concealed) for her friend, Jamie.
The fact that Chondra is pregnant made it less likely that Tiller's security would recognize her as a proLife "messenger-on-a-mission". Jennifer urged her to simply have Jamie come out to the gate, where Jennifer was confident they would be able to take her to Choices Medical Clinic.
(The people who work inside Choices Medical Clinic are so professional, and the 3-D sonogram is so effective, that if we can get an abortion-bound person into Choices, the save rate is above 90%.)
Chondra went in side, while Jennifer waited and prayed at the gate. At about 1:30 pm, Chondra came back out, crying, and unfortunately alone.
Chondra was upset because she could not get Jamie to come back out with her. The problem was that Jamie's Mom was in there with her, and to some extent, Jamie was under her Mom's control. Jamie's Mom took the literature, but at least she read it.
Jennifer told Chondra that on a late-term abortion like this, the baby would not actually be killed until Tuesday, and this gave Chondra hope.
Chondra and Jennifer started working on "Plan-B"
Before she left, Chondra exchanged contact information with Jennifer, and asked Jennifer to come with her to Jamie's house later in the day - when they planned to be together. Jennifer agreed, and devoted the rest of her day to saving the life of Jamie's child.
This log reflects that Jennifer left Tiller's gate, at 2:pm. In reality, Jennifer was on the job, off-site until about 2:am, talking with Jamie, with Jamie's mother, with the boyfriend, and of course - with Chondra.
<<UPDATE: 2008-Dec-02 8:37 pm>>
The good news is that Jamie's baby, who under normal circumstances would have been routinely killed by a lethal injection (through the abdominal wall) today, is alive and well.
Due to the efforts of Jennifer and Chondra, Jamie did not keep her appointment for the late-term abortion at Tiller's today.
Furthermore, the father of the child is on Jennifer and Chondra's side. He is urging Jamie not to kill their baby, and this is having a strong, positive impact on Jamie.
As it turned out, it was Jamie's Mother who most needed to read the material that was intended for Jamie, and Jamie has read it too. Even Jamie's mother is now in favor of keeping the child.
Jennifer said that this meets our definition of a Confirmed Save, but that it is a situation in need of prayer.
Please say both a prayer of thanksgiving, for the events of yesterday and today, and a prayer of intersession that this "Confirmed Save" will end in the birth of a beautiful child.
(Look for an update in March or April of 2009.) |
| Friday the 5th: | CONFIRMED SAVE & TURN-AROUND; Janet Moore:
CONFIRMED SAVE:
At about 1:15 pm, a silver sedan carrying an Hispanic couple, stopped at Tiller's gate and accepted literature from Janet.
Janet was able to talk to them for about a full minute, before the couple went in to Tiller's parking lot.
At 1:23 pm, they came back out, and stopped at the gate again. They told Janet that they had changed their mind about having the abortion.
TURN-AROUND; Janet Moore:
At about 2:16 pm, another silver sedan came into Tiller's parking lot. (Kansas Tag, tag number is in the vehicle log.) They parked on the south side of Tiller's Parking Lot, and two females got out of the vehicle and walked toward Tiller's entrance.
As they were walking, Janet called out to them from her position at the gate. They did not respond. However, one minute later, at 2:18 pm, they left Tiller's parking lot.
It is unlikely that in that brief time, that they had even gotten into Tiller's building, and certainly not through security. |

| Monday the 3rd: | CONFIRMED SAVE; Jennifer McCoy and Brandi Lozier:
At about 12:00 noon, just as Jennifer and Brandi arrived on-site to take their shift at the gate of the Tiller Late-term Abortion facility, in Wichita, KS, a car that had come into Tiller's earlier in the day, was on its way OUT of Tiller's Parking Lot. The car is a blue Chevy Lumina, Michigan Tag No: BWS-0150.
(The tag number is posted here intentionally, because the man who was driving this vehicle wants the world to know who he is and what he has to say!)
The car stopped at the gate, and a young Caucasian couple inside wanted to talk to Jennifer and Brandi. The pregnant lady's name is Tiffany. They are from Romulus, Michigan.
The couple had driven all night last night, from Michigan, a 16-hour drive - and had not slept since yesterday. They were highly disappointed at what they found here in Wichita at the Tiller Late-term Abortion facility.
They had arrived in Wichita during the early morning hours and had gotten a hotel room nearby at the Motel-6 on East Kellogg. They had planned on spending three days here for a late-term abortion.
Tiffany is twenty-six weeks pregnant, and she was referred here by her doctor in Michigan. (However, according to Jennifer, she looked like she was much further along than six months.)
They were leaving Tiller's facility because, in their words: "This place a disorganized mess!"
"It is certainly not the state-of-the-art abortion clinic that it is advertised to be!" said the gentleman in an angry voice.
The gentleman was mad because they had spent so much time on the road, and so much money already, only to find what he called: "a hole-in-the-wall crooked abortion dump, far worse than what they could find in Michigan." Their intent was to go back to Michigan and to find an abortionist who would do the abortion locally.
The gentleman did most of the talking, but Tiffany was in full agreement with everything that he said. He described to Jennifer how disorganized, rude, and unprofessional Tiller's employee's were.
He said; "...not only is it a disorganized mess in there, but we were treated so rudely by the employees that we finally decided to leave!"
He went on to say; "I want everybody to know that Tiller's employees are a bunch of idiots who treat you like dirt!"
Jennifer listened, and encouraged him to day more. At least one cause of the friction between this couple and Tiller's staff was that Tiller's staff wanted them to "agree" that she was only 19 weeks pregnant, instead of the 26 weeks pregnant that she actually is.
We believe that this was being proposed as a means of avoiding a sign-off from a second Kansas Physician who does not have financial ties to Tiller, as is required in Kansas late-term abortion statute, K.S.A. 65-6703 for any pregnancy beyond 22 weeks.
He told Jennifer. "It was a total waste of our time to come to Wichita for an abortion!" The gentleman added; "We are not stupid, yet they insisted on treating us like we were stupid."
Another item of disagreement was apparently cost. Was Tiller's facility trying to encourage them to lie about the gestational age of their child, saying it 7 weeks younger than it in fact was, all while still wanting to charge them the higher price of an abortion beyond six months?
The man did not come out and say that directly, but from what he did say, it is likely that this was the case.
The man re-stated; "We are not stupid
and it is not like we had no other option, other than to put up with their _ # X # X !"
Jennifer, however, was not content to have them go back to Michigan, to have an abortion.
This is where the Hand-of-God became so clear, that one could almost feel it!
By total coincidence, our KCFL volunteer, Jennifer, was born and raised in River Rouge, Michigan, about 10 minutes away from Romulus, Michigan, where this couple is from, on the southern outskirts of Detroit. Jennifer's childhood home is just 14 easy miles from Tiffany's house, both are just off Highway-94, Exit No. 198 for Tiffany, and Exit No. 208 for Jennifer's childhood home!
Tiffany and her husband were stunned to find that Jennifer knew many of the same people that they know. Since Jennifer and this couple are similar in age, it is likely that Jennifer, Tiffany, and her husband, were all in attendance at many of the same sporting events in high school, since River Rouge and Romulus, Michigan compete in sports.
At that moment, every one realized that this was not some random chance coincidence, but rather the Will-of-God, and they openly verbalized that fact to each other.
Jennifer informed them that the only abortionist in Michigan who would be willing to do an illegal late-term abortion in Michigan, is Abortionist Alberto Hodari. They knew that Jennifer knew what she was talking about when she mentioned his name!
Abortionist Hodari runs a chain of abortion facilities in Michigan, and he is even willing to do forced abortions, where parents bring in unwilling teenagers. Hodari has staff who will hold down unwilling young girls while Hodari does the killing. Jennifer would know this because she has first-hand experience in dealing with Hodari.
Seeing this meeting as a "God Thing" the couple listened intently to Jennifer. Jennifer told them that they should not, under any circumstance, kill this baby, and within a half hour of listening to Jennifer, all on-site, Tiffany and her man agreed that they would not have the abortion after all!
It was an emotion-filled complete conversion to a proLife point of view, which Tiffany actually knew was correct before leaving Michigan, but now she felt that God had made His point directly, and unmistakably.
You might call it something of a Biblical "Jonah Moment" for Tiffany and her husband. There are times in life when God can be very direct in giving us direction
this was one of those moments!
Jennifer referred them to a crisis pregnancy center in Michigan, and they took Jennifer's phone number in case they need more help.
They are currently back in the hotel room getting some rest.
<<UPDATE 2008-Nov-03 4:30 pm.>>
Jennifer left a note at the Motel-6 Front Desk for them to call when they wake up.
<<UPDATE 2008-Nov-05>>
This Michigan couple is still in town. We have put them on the WATCH LIST at the gate, just in case they have had a relapse in their thinking.
<<UPDATE 2008-Nov-6>>
Jennifer found out that their car is in the shop, for a repair. There is no intent on their part to go back on their life-giving decision. Their car was not seen at Tiller's gate, and they did not come in as pedestrians.
<<UPDATE 2008-Nov-7>>
Tiffany and her husband's car is fixed, and they are now on their way back to Michigan. Jennifer plans a visit with them when she goes up to Michigan in a few days for a Baptism.
Thank God that Jennifer was at the gate at the right time!
This is an unusual addition to our Confirmed Save count, because actually, KCFL had nothing to do with the fact that Tiller did not kill this child. We were only witnesses to the fact. However, Jennifer prevented this couple from merely having their child killed in another location, and for that reason, we are counting this among our documented Confirmed Saves. |
| Friday the 7th: | CONFIRMED SAVE and TURN-AROUND; Janet Moore, and Jennifer McCoy (on Turn-Around only):
CONFIRMED SAVE:
This incident actually begins a week ago today, when a young Asian couple stopped at the gate to take literature from Janet last Friday. However, after taking the literature and after a brief exchange, they went into Tiller's facility for a sonogram and to schedule an abortion, in spite of Janet's efforts to persuade them not to.
Today this same couple came in again, in the same Kansas vehicle (tag number on file) but this time they were here for the actual abortion.
They did not stop at the gate, but Janet recognized them. When they got out of their car in the parking lot, Janet called out to them, in a last-minute effort to save the child's life.
At first it seemed to Janet like her efforts were in vein, however, after being in Tiller's facility for about __________ minutes, the couple re-appeared at the gate.
This time, they stopped and told Janet that they had changed their mind about having an abortion.
We do not know what actually made them change their mind, but Janet's last minute effort to communicate with them in the parking lot, may have been the one thing that tipped the scales in their minds in favor of life.
Please join us in a prayer of Thanksgiving for their change of mind, and for this child, that he or she may live a long, productive and happy life.
TURN-AROUND:
A black couple in a dark colored Excursion with Sedgwick County Kansas tags (tag number on file) came into Tiller's and did not stop to take literature at the gate.
When they got out of their car in the parking lot, Janet attempted to talk to them, and to encourage them to go to Choices Medical Clinic, however, the couple did not speak to Janet.
They went on inside, out of sight of the volunteers at the gate. (This was just before Jennifer arrived on-site.) Then, after taking the lady inside, the man left alone. He was crying when he left the gate alone.
About five minutes later, after he left Tiller's gate, he came back into Tiller's parking lot.
We believe that he had a change of heart, because again, within a few minutes, they both left together. It is possible that he was the one who wanted the abortion, not her.
The entire time spent inside was not enough to have done any procedure whatsoever, not even a sonogram nor an evaluation. |

| Tuesday the 28th: | TURN-AROUND; Carmen Wittler, Michelle Herzog, Breanna Rose and Marion Johnson:
(Information receive via e-mail)
Hi Mark,
At about 10:10 a.m., a brown Ford pick-up truck, Kansas tag (on file), arrived at Tiller's gate and we had an opportunity to speak to the two Hispanic women who were inside of the vehicle.
The driver stopped and rolled down her window, in the middle of Tiller's driveway.
Michelle was on the driver's side, and she spoke to the Grandmother (Sandy) who was driving her daughter, the 21 year-old pregnant patient named Jennifer, to Tiller's for an abortion.
Breanna and I were on the passenger side, with the pregnant Mother, trying to talk to her thru the closed window. We were all trying to talk them out of going in for an abortion.
Fortunately, the Grandmother wanted to hear Michelles story, and Jennifer wanted to hear Breannas.
Breanna gave the women a small plastic 12-week baby model and we were able to hand them reading materials as well.
This is the second baby for Jennifer. Sandy said that it was up to Jennifer to abort, or to save baby. The Grandmother Sandy was going to support Jennifer's decision either way.
They left Tillers without ever getting out of their pick-up truck, going home to think about the baby.
We prayed and thank God for the turn-around. We also prayed for the day that we see the closure of the Tillers business.

| Thursday the 30th: | TURN-AROUND; Carmen Wittler & Dale Weldy:
(Report via e-mail.)
Hi Mark,
This happened at the start of my shift, and at the end of Dale Weldy's shift. In fact Dale was leaving, and he made a U-turn to come help and assist me.
At about 9:40 a.m., a dark Ford SUV with a Hispanic couple inside, pulled into Tillers parking lot, without stopping at the gate, and parked close by the gate. (License tag is on file.)
The driver was not the father of the baby and he translated for us.
When the couple stepped out of their vehicle, I invited them to come over and please speak me. They did.
The lady is 32 years of age and has two children, 9 and 14 years old. She is pregnant with her third (?) child and she is considering an abortion. (She has had a previous abortion years ago.)
The Lady is a roofer by trade and thinks that she is going to be inconvenienced by this pregnancy.
Dale and I spoke to her about her options and all who can help her. We spoke to them for 30 minutes. Eventually, Tiller's Security Guard came out to rush her along, and at the same time, Tiller was entering the gate. But even with all the traffic coming in and out we stayed on task, and did our best to talk them out of having the abortion.
They did go into Tillers for about 2-3 minutes and came right out again. As they were leaving, they rolled down their window, and said that they would think about all that we had told them.
I told them that this baby will always be with her, and that I will pray for her.
Please pray for her!
Carmen Wittler

| Saturday the 1st: | CONFIRMED SAVE; Joseph Elmore:
On a Saturday afternoon, with Tiller's gate closed and locked, the last thing expected was the news of a Confirmed Save! But God works in unexpected ways.
(For Background Information See the Incident Repot dated, October 16, 2008, under the name Joseph Elmore.)
This story actually begins on Thursday, October 16th, when Joe Elmore, a Black KCFL Volunteer, was working with two abortion-bound Black ladies on the same day. One was a college-aged lady, who Joseph successfully re-directed to Choices Medical Clinic. That wonderful story is told in the Incident Report dated October 16, 2008. The other abortion-bound client was a 14 year-old black girl who was being bought into Tiller's by her mother.
In the October 16th Incident Report, it was noted that Joseph was unable to meet with the college-aged pregnant lady when she left the proLife Choices Medical Clinic, because he was engaged in a conversation with the mother of the pregnant 14 year-old Black girl. The mother of the 14 year-old pregnant teen is named Wynona.
After speaking to Joseph at Tiller's gate, on October 16, and after she took literature from him, Wynona nevertheless took her pregnant daughter into Tillers, where it was determined that she was 16 weeks pregnant. An abortion was scheduled, and the price for this planned killing was set at $5000.00.
Wynona did not like the idea of her daughter having an abortion, however she decided that it would be best for her, in part because her daughter is a Cheer Leader at her High School, and this pregnancy would mean that she would no longer be on the cheer-leading team.
Today, Wynona came to the gate, hoping to find Joseph to let him know how things turned out. Fortunately, Joseph was there.
On the day before the scheduled abortion, Wynona's daughter ran away from home, and was gone for a week. The Wichita police were notified, and she was apparently listed as a missing child.
When Wynona's 14 year-old daughter came back home, she made it clear that she did not want to have an abortion, and Wynona instead took her to a real doctor.
Wynona now feels that the Hand-of-God was guiding her daughter, and she is thankful that they did not go through with the abortion, because the doctor who is caring for her daughter told her that due to her daughter's medical condition, and due to the unusual position of the baby, there is a good chance that her daughter would have bled to death during the abortion.
Wynona has an older sister (the 14 year old girl's Aunt), who is unable to have children of her own. When she heard about the situation, she immediately asked to adopt the baby, and arrangements for that adoption are underway right now!
Wynona, and her daughter, feel much better about the way things turned out, and she cannot even bear to think of how she would feel if both her daughter and grandchild had died in an abortion.
By the Grace of God, this has turned into a Win-Win-Win-Win situation.
A WIN for the baby, a WIN for Wynona's daughter who had the nerve to leave home rather than to go through with an abortion followed by a possible life of regret about having killed her first child, a WIN for Wynona who now sees the wisdom of Joseph's advice for her, and a WIN for Wynona's sister, whose loving arms are counting the days until the arrival of this once abortion-bound child!
Please say a prayer of Thanksgiving for this wonderful outcome, of what could have been a tragic event in these four lives.
Thanks to Joseph and other ProLife volunteers around the nation who take a shift at the gates of America's abortion facilities, not every baby scheduled to die by abortion, actually dies.
At the Tiller Abortion Facility in Wichita, Kansas, about 4% of the babies who are scheduled to die by abortion, are saved.
Wynona gave Joseph her phone number and contact information. We hope to be able to update this story when the baby is born in 2009. |

| Thursday the 16th: | TURN-AROUND - Upgraded to a CONFIRMED SAVE; Joseph Elmore and Greg Biggs:
At about 1:20 pm, an older tan Toyota Corolla (tag number on file) carrying a heavy-set young black lady who appeared to be in her early 20's, stopped to talk to Joe Elmore at Tiller's gate.
She talked briefly to Joe, then went into Tiller's parking lot, but instead of parking where clients normally park, she parked in an open employee stall, near the gate. She is a college student, six weeks pregnant, and she had an appointment at Tiller's.
When she exited her car, she was not far from where Joe was standing at the gate, and Joe tried to talk to her again. Unfortunately, she walked toward Tiller's door, out of sight of the people at the gate.
However, at about 1:25 pm, she came back to retrieve something from her car, and Joe took that opportunity to try to talk to her again. In a polite and persuasive way, Joe tried to get her to think about what she was about to do to her child and to herself!
According to Greg Biggs, she appeared to ignore Joe, while Joe was trying his best to get her to go over to Choices Medical Clinic, the proLife clinic which is located next door to Tiller's abortion facility. She did not respond at all, and sadly went back into Tiller's building.
Then, in what was a total surprise to Joe and Greg, at about 1:40 pm, she came walking out of Tiller's building, and instead of going to her car, she came directly to the gate to talk to Joe.
This time she conversed with Joe willingly, and by the Grace of God, Joe was able to talk her into going over to Choices Medical Clinic.
At 1:43 pm, her car exited Tiller's parking lot, and entered Choices Medical Clinic's parking lot - a clear victory for the Power-of-Prayer and a reward for Joe's persistence!
She remained at Choices Medical Clinic beyond the end of Greg's Shift.
<<UPDATE 2008-Oct-16 7:00 pm >>
Joseph Elmore reports that she stayed in at Choices Medical Clinic until about 3:20 pm.
However, when she left Choices, Joe had engaged another black client at Tiller's gate in a conversation, and he was unable to talk to the above noted lady as she exited the Choices Parking Lot.
The client who was on her way into Tiller's at that time, accepted literature from Joe, but it did not result in any further positive news that we currently know of.
However, about 10 minutes later, when a black lady who volunteers at Choices Medical Clinic was leaving work for the day, Joe approached her and asked her about the above client.
Due to Federal HIPPA Regulations, the volunteer was not able to reveal any detailed or personal medical information to Joe.
However, the information of a Spiritual and Religious nature that she was able to share with Joe, is cause for wild celebration!
The Hand-Of-God was clearly working through Joseph Elmore and the good people at Choices Medical Clinic.
Not only was the life of the child saved, but in a Spiritual sense, the life of the this young Mother was also saved today.
Please join us in a Prayer of Thanksgiving for both Mother and child!
(There is more good news to this story than can be posted here. Return to this report in the months and years ahead for a possible updates!)
Note: This is the 359th Documented Save since starting our continuous presence on Mother's Day, 2004. But this is the FIRST SAVE where we had a Black KCFL Volunteer, convincing a Black lady to go to Choices Medical Clinic, where a Black Choices Medical Clinic Volunteer gave aid comfort and advice to the client.
Since so many of Tiller's clients are Black, especially among the early-term abortions, we need more Black Volunteers at the gate, and I assume at Choices Medical Clinic too.
Please spread the word. |

| Monday the 6th: | CONFIRMED SAVE; Jennifer McCoy and Brandi Lozier:
At about 12:40 pm, a grey SUV with Seward County, Kansas Tags, (Southwestern Kansas) carrying three (four) people, an Hispanic couple, and an approximate 3-year old little girl approached Tiller's gate. (Tag number is in the book.)
The pregnant lady in the front seat driving was named Maria, and she was the mother of the 3-year old, but she was not the wife of the man in the vehicle.
Jennifer and Brandi were able to stop them on Tiller's driveway, and spoke to them. They knew very little English, but could communicate enough to agree to take the literature pack which is printed in English (we are out of Spanish Language material, and so is Choices Medical Clinic).
After looking at the material for a few minutes, they went into Tiller's parking lot, but they came back out again in about 5 minutes.
On their own, they came back to the gate, and told Jennifer that they had an appointment at 1:20 pm today.
Jennifer at first thought that she was post-abortive, and was here for a Monday follow-up appointment.
They left the area, and returned to Tiller's gate at about 1:15 pm. They stopped again in the drive way, to talk to Jennifer. Only now did Jennifer become suspicious that they were going in for an abortion, rather than for a post abortion check-up.
(Note: Even thought this is a Monday, both Tiller and Abortionist Robinson are on the calendar and were actually in today. Recently, Tiller has not scheduled abortionists to be here on Mondays.)
Then, at about 1:30 pm, they came back to the gate to talk more with Jennifer. This was the 4th time that they stopped at the gate to talk to Jennifer! They were clearly undecided as to what to do.
This time, Jennifer was able to persuade them to go to Choices Medical Clinic.
The couple went in to Choices Medical Clinic, and stayed until about 2:30 pm.
When they came out, they told Jennifer and Brandi that they are keeping the baby.
The man said that he is not her husband, nor the father of the unborn child, however, he supported her decision to keep the baby, and said that he was willing to help Maria care for the child.
Brandi was so happy about this Confirmed Save that she cried tears of joy. (Brandi has been putting in extremely long hours on-site, especially this past week and weekend, with the 40-Days for Life project.) |

| Monday the 29th: | TURN-AROUND; Brandi Lozier:
At about 3:30 pm, an older model, small, tan, car came southbound on Bleckley Street, and turned onto Tiller's driveway. The car was carrying three Hispanic females.
Brandi stopped the car on Tiller's driveway by offering them literature.
When Brandi handed her the literature, the driver asked if she knew where "the Abortion Place" was?
Brandi directed her to Choices Medical Clinic, and the lady immediately backed-up her car, and went into the Choices Medical Clinic parking lot.
When the driver got out of the car, she came over to ask Brandi for more literature - apparently they wanted a pack for each one!
After visiting the proLife Choices Medical Clinic, they left the area, and did NOT return to Tiller's abortion facility. |
| Wednesday the 1st: | AMBULANCE CALL # 7:
At 6:20 pm, KCFL on-site volunteer, Brandi Lozier, called from the gate of the Tiller Late-term abortion facility in Wichita, KS, and said that Edna Roach, an employee of Abortionist Tiller, came into Tiller's parking lot at a high rate of speed, carrying a distressed abortion client.
According to Brandi, as Edna slowed down enough to make the corner at Tiller's gate, she, Brandi, could see a Caucasian lady - laying-back in the front seat on the passenger side of Edna's car. (This client was likely being transported from a hotel room, where she was waiting to deliver an already-dead baby. Routinely, late-term babies are killed by injection on Tuesdays at Tillers late-term abortion facility but usually do not deliver until Thursday or Friday.)
Edna proceeded to the front door of Tiller's building, and began blowing her car horn repeatedly in long bursts; apparently trying to get the attention of someone inside of Tiller's Abortion facility.
At that point, Brandi called, me, Mark Gietzen, and asked for help and directions as to what to do next. While waiting for me to get additional help on-site, Brandi called 911, and reported what was going on.
Joseph Elmore arrived on-site a few minutes early for his 6:30 to 8:00 pm shift. As he approached the gate, a Sedgwick County Ambulance and a Fire-Rescue Team in a fire truck arrived on-site, followed by a Wichita Police Car. All went into Tiller's parking lot.
A few minutes later, (maybe even within 2 minutes) the Ambulance left Tiller's gate with lights and siren activated, and went northbound on Bleckley Street. However, instead of turning right, or eastbound, on the one-way street, Kellogg Drive, the Ambulance went the wrong way, against traffic on Kellogg Drive, until it got to Oliver Street where it went westbound on Kellogg, a four-lane highway.
When the police car left Tiller's parking lot, the Police Officer said to Brandi and Joseph at the gate, words to the effect of; "...every thing was going to be all right!"
Hopefully the officer's words mean that we do not have another death-of-the-Mother on our hands.
This is the first ambulance call at Tiller's facility since Tuesday, July 12, 2005, when an ambulance was called as a precaution, to stand-by during an abortion that was preformed on a client who had a high-risk of bleeding.
On Thursday, January 13, 2005, an ambulance transported the dead body of another Tiller abortion client, Christin Gilbert, from Tiller's facility to Wesley Hospital, after she was killed at Tiller's facility in a botched abortion that made national headlines.
Tiller quit using ambulances to transport clients to the hospital, apparently due to the media attention that followed the KCFL reports of the previous ambulance runs.
Instead, Tiller now routinely transports his clients to the hospital in his Jeep or in other private vehicles. Most recently, six days ago, on Thursday, September 25, 2008, a 23-week pregnant client who was receiving an illegal late-term abortion at Tiller's facility, was transported to Wesley Hospital in Tiller's jeep - driven by Tiller himself, aided by one of Tiller's employees. The employee, who sat next to the client-victim, tried in a haphazard and makeshift way, to duplicate the services of professional para-medics. That client, a young Black lady, now known only as "Patient S" nearly died during her illegal late-term procedure. (See Operation Rescue's website for details).
No further information is available at this time about tonight's victim-client.
Please keep this unknown victim client in your prayers tonight. No one deserves to die, even if she was in the process of hiring an abortionist to kill her own child. 99% of the time, the woman is a secondary victim, dealing with a bad situation, which is invariably made worse by a visit to an abortionist.
In any case, Brandi Lozier may have saved the life of this abortion client, by her decision to call the ambulance. The Kansas Coalition for Life applauds Brandi for her life-saving action.
Brandi Lozier, who is one of America's three well-known living abortion survivors (along with Gianna Jessen, and Ana Rosa Rodriguez) survived a saline abortion 25 years ago. Brandi is now a strong proLife advocate. She recently moved to Wichita, to help KCFL with the 40-Days-for-Life campaign, and has agreed to stay in Wichita until the Tiller late-term abortion facility is shut down.
For more information about Brandi's life story, and for updates on this incident, call KCFL at 316-522-8866. |

Calli Says:
September 26th, 2008 at 6:12 pm
Im 9 weeks and 5 days pregnant. On September 24, 2008 I drove 3 1/2 hours to George Tillers office. I had made my mind up that abortion would be the best thing for me and my family. As soon as I walked in the doors of the clinic I had this disgusted feeling came over me. There was something really wrong and dirty about this place. Me and my boyfriend made it threw security, and was seated in the waiting room with about 30 other people. As we were setting there I noticed 2 girls that were showing pretty good. They had to be at least 7 months along. I didnt know the laws on late abortion at the time but I knew it was wrong. I couldn't help but look at them and start crying. I wanted to say something to them so bad but I knew that make me a hypocrite beings I was there for the same reason. I kept telling my boyfriend that there was something wrong with this place and i wasnt comfortable at all. They finally called my name to go back. They put me and 5 other girls in the same room to set while they took us back one at a time for a ultrasound. We all set in there in silence just looking at each other. I was the last one called out of the room. I went back to the ultrasound room and a young nurse came back with me. She was so happy and all smiles cracking jokes. I was thinking to myself how can anyone that has to do with something like this be so happy and proud of herself. She gave me my ultrasound and smiled and said, you are 9 weeks and 3 days would you like to see the picture of your baby? I couldn't believe that they would even ask you that. I gave her a blank looked and started crying and walked out. They sent me back to the room were they put us all before. For some strange reason I was the only patient that was sent back in there. I sat in that room all alone for an hour waiting to see what was going to happen next. The more I sat there the more I thought about what I was getting ready to do to the human being inside me. As I looked around the room I noticed on the wall Dr. Tiller had about 25 thank you letters from previous patients framed on the walls. It gave me a chill down my spine just knowing that he was that proud of what he does. Finally the doctor came in and told me ok its your turn. If you could just following me back to your room we can get this over with. He never once asked me why i wanted the abortion or why i was crying? I had had enough I stood up and told him I couldn't do this I was leaving and that there was something seriously wrong with this place. he gave me a blank look and said ok thank you if you change your mind just call and make another appointment. We left and I came home and looked up Dr. tiller on you tube. I had no idea all those bad things had happened and that he had been in trouble for late term abortions before. You would think after getting in trouble for it he wouldnt do it anymore. I seen it with my own 2 eyes that day in the waiting room. Hes still at it to this day. And yes Ive decided to keep my baby. I dont want to have anything to do with abortion. No baby deserves that.

Reply on the Operation Rescue web-site:
Hello Calli,
I just want to say "Thank you" for saving the life of your baby. In doing so, you have saved your own life in more ways than you perhaps now imagine.
Hopefully, one of the KCFL volunteers at the gate offered you help and literature. In case they did not, I am hereby offering you any help that you could possibly need. If we cannot provide the help that you need, directly from our own resources, then we will certainly find the help you need.
My name is Mark S. Gietzen, my address is: 5575 South Mosley Street, Wichita, Kansas, 67216-3631. My phone number is: 316-522-8866, and my e-mail address is: mark@gietzen.us. I am the director of The Kansas Coalition for Life.
If during your pregnancy you need help, call me. An abortion kills the child and always injures the mother emotionally for the rest of her life. If you have any friends who are considering an abortion, please have them call me if they need help.
In a short time, you will love this baby so much, that you will thank God in heaven for your decision to spare its life.
My offer of help is good for the next 18 years, or longer if you need it.
Thank you for sharing your story.
Mark

| Thursday the 25th: | First 40-Days for Life TURN-AROUND: Carolyn Moshier, Julie Buresh, and Betty Jean Patterson, (with an unintentional assist from Tiller's Night Security Guard, Bonnie).
Since the 40-Days for Life project at the Tiller Abortion Facility in Wichita, Kansas is primarily an after-hours project, and since the gate to Tiller's Abortion facility is normally closed after hours, we did not anticipate having any Saves or Turn-Arounds associated with this project. However, something unexpected happened today, on our second day of 40-Days for Life.
Around 6:30 pm, after Tiller's gate was initially closed for the day, a late-term abortion client who was apparently having trouble, was bought back in to Tiller's facility. When they came in, they left the gate open.
At about 7:15 pm, a young Asian couple came to Tiller's gate, and 40-Days For Life volunteer, Carolyn, was able to stop them on Tiller's driveway, by offering literature to them. They accepted the literature, and Carolyn was able to talk to them.
This couple had never been to Tiller's before, but they had an appointment for an early-term abortion tomorrow. They drove by this evening, just to look at the place, and to make sure that they could find it tomorrow.
Carolyn was able to talk to them for about five minutes, and Carolyn could sense that they were less than 100% sure that this is what they wanted to do. They were willing to listen to Carolyn, and they needed and wanted information.
While they were talking, Tiller's Night Security Guard, a middle-aged woman named "Bonnie" came to the gate and immediately began yelling at Carolyn and at the other 40-Days for Life Volunteer, Julie.
Carolyn and Julie turned their backs to Bonnie, in an effort to avoid a confrontation with her.
Bonnie then yelled at the Asian couple to get into Tiller's parking lot, ...but having witnessed Bonnie's behavior, and / or as a result of the conversation and the literature, that they had already received, the Asian couple refused to go in to Tiller's parking lot!
As Bonnie continued yelling at these potential clients, they backed-up, off of Tiller's parking lot, and onto Bleckley Street.
According to Julie, "...that car kind of lingered like they wanted to talk to Carolyn more, but couldn't because of the clinic lady, after stopping in the street for a couple minutes, they drove off."
Bonnie then belligerently accused Carolyn and Julie of having blocked Tiller's driveway, and threatened to call the police.
Getting no favorable reaction, from Carolyn and Julie, and having failed to get the Asian couple to go in, Bonnie left and went back inside of Tiller's building. She later closed the gate.
Carolyn is optimistic that this is a successful save, but we will wait to see if they return before counting it as a Confirmed Save.
(Confirmed Saves are counted at 100% and Turn-Arounds are counted at 50%.)
NOTE: This incident happened immediately following a recitation of the Holy Rosary by Carolyn, Julie, and Julie's three wonderful young children, which included the proLife meditation with each Decade of the Rosary. That meditation is built around each Mystery, and is loved by both Catholics and Protestants. Betty Jean Patterson was in prayer during the entire event.
Those of you who want to call it a meaningless coincidence of timing are welcome to do so. But those of us who witness the power of prayer on-site, time and again, know better.
If you do not believe in the power of prayer, we invite you to participate in 40-Days for Life, because you will learn for your self, first hand!
If you already believe in the power of prayer, please consider joining us on site. We need you and we absolutely have a time slot that will work for you. The 40-Days for Life project is a 24-Hour per day effort.
Please Call: 316-522-8866 to schedule your time. |

| Monday the 15th: | TURN AROUND; Jennifer McCoy:
At about 2:pm a grey Ford Taurus with Kansas tags stopped at Tiller's gate to talk to Jennifer.
The driver was a young Black lady, in her 20's, who was visibly pregnant, possibly as late as 30 weeks gestation.
She first rolled down her window and accepted literature from Jennifer; then she talked with Jennifer for about five minutes.
She, seemed confused about what to do, and was willing to listen to Jennifer.
Jennifer encouraged her to go to the proLife Choices Medical Clinic, which is next door to Tiller's Late-term Abortion facility. The girl agreed to do so.
She backed up, off of Tiller's driveway, without ever actually touching Tiller's parking lot, and went directly to Choices Medical Clinic.
Jennifer called Choices and the receptionist was waiting for their new client the minute she got in the door.
She remained in Choices beyond the end of Jennifer's shift end-time. |
| Thursday the 18th: | TURN-AROUND; Carmen Wittler and a Church group from Hutchinson, Kansas:
At about 11:10 am, a black SUV with Missouri Tags came into Tiller's parking lot, carrying two young Caucasian women, both who appeared to be in their early 20's. They did not stop to take literature at the gate.
However, at 11:45 am, they came back to the gate, leaving Tiller's parking lot. They had not been in long enough to have had an abortion, and they both smiled and waived on their way out. One gave a "thumbs-up" sign as she left the gate.
This vehicle is being put on the Watch List until September 27th. |

| Monday the 8th: | CONFIRMED SAVE; Jennifer McCoy:
At about 12:10 pm, a new, shinny-white pick-up truck with an extended cab, and New Mexico tags, stopped at Tiller's gate. The vehicle was driven by the mother of a pregnant seventeen-year-old girl named "Corina" who was in the passenger side of the vehicle. They immediately accepted some literature from Jennifer.
Corina is 27 weeks pregnant, and she told Jennifer that they had an appoint at Tiller's at 2:pm. They had arrived early because they were not sure that they would be able to find the place. They were aware that her late-term abortion was to be a 3-day procedure, and they did not want to be late in getting started.
Corina's mother can not speak a word of English, but Corina speaks both Spanish and English very well.
Corina spoke freely with Jennifer, answering Jennifer's questions, and listening to what Jennifer had to say. As Jennifer talked, Corina translated every sentence to her Mom.
Eventually, Jennifer asked them to back-up and go to the proLife Choices Medical Clinic, which is next door to Tiller's abortion facility.
Since they were 1-hour and 50 minutes early for their appointment, they were willing to go to Choices... at least until their appointment time at Tillers.
As they backed off Tiller's driveway, Jennifer called Choices Medical Clinic on her cell phone, and let them know that they needed to take them in first. (Choices Medical Clinic was nearly full of scheduled non-emergency clients.)
As it turned out, Corina and her Mom stayed in Choices Medical Clinic for over four hours! Jennifer waited at Tiller's gate until they came out.
When they came out, Corina had the ultrasound pictures in her hand. Both her Mom and Cornea were crying, and they stopped to talk to Jennifer again.
Jennifer offered more help if they needed it. In this conversation Jennifer also offered to have Corina talk to her daughter, "Ally" who is also seventeen-years-old, and is a new mother. That phone conversation went well.
Corina and her Mom told Jennifer that they were Catholic. Jennifer asked them why they were here, since they are Catholic, but they did not want to talk about that.
If they had gone to Tiller's, the sonogram prior to the abortion procedure would have been $400, paid upfront.
The abortion was going to cost an additional $7,000. However, in this case, the Abortion Federation was going to pay $2,500 of that cost, leaving the total cost for Corina, $4,900. |

| Monday the 18th: | CONFIRMED SAVE; Jennifer McCoy:
At about 1:30 pm, two Hispanic ladies who do not speak English well, (tag number on file), came into Tiller's but did not stop at the gate.
This being a Monday with no abortionist on the schedule, we assume that it was for abortion counseling, consent forms, and abortion scheduling.
However at 12:05 pm, on their way out of Tiller's parking lot, they stopped at the gate and took Spanish Language literature from Jennifer, and stayed to talk, while and after reading the literature. In that position, they were facing the Truth-truck.
The pregnant one had tears in her eyes while reading the literature, and Jennifer gave her a "miraculous medal" necklace.
Jennifer did her best to communicate with them, and invited them to come to Choices Medical Clinic.
However, the pregnant one decided that there was no reason for her to do so, because she had decided against having an abortion.
She told Jennifer: "I no come back! I no come back!"
This vehicle and these potential clients will be on the Watch List for the rest of the week. |
| Thursday the 21st: | TURN-AROUND; Jennifer McCoy and All Members of the Guadalupe Rosary Crusade for Life:
At about 12:45 pm, a blue 4-door sedan stopped at Tiller's gate. The driver was a 20 (something?) year-old Black pregnant lady, and she had a young friend with her, who is approximately the same age. They had a little baby in a car seat, in the back of the car.
When Jennifer offered the ladies some literature, and she asked if they ware here for a pregnancy test?
The driver said "Yes!"
But then, she also added that she knew that she was about two months pregnant.
Jennifer asked her to come with her to Choices Medical Clinic, which is located next-door to the Tiller Late-Term Abortion facility.
The driver conferred with her friend for a few minutes, but they decided against going to Choices Medical Clinic.
Jennifer also asked her to consider adoption, because she had told Jennifer that she was not going to be able to take care of this baby.
The girl said that she would rather have an abortion than to put her baby up for adoption!
In the end, after considerable conversation, the driver said: "I am not going to keep this baby!!".
However, Jennifer did not give up.
Jennifer handed them two different sets of proLife literature, and explained some of the literature to both of these girls.
After examining the literature with Jennifer, the driver thanked Jennifer, and the other people who had gathered there at the gate, and then, unfortunately went on into Tiller's Parking Lot, and walked inside, still carrying at least some of the literature.
The people at the gate all continued to pray for a miracle.
One of the out-of-state people who is here in support of the KCFL efforts at Tiller's gate today, is a 24-year-old girl named "Brandy".
(Brandy is an abortion-survivor who lived through a saline-abortion attempt when she was just 4 1/2 months old on her birthday, September 12, 1984. Brandy now lives in Louisiana. This is her first time in Wichita.)
Brandy had also been talking to the black girls in the car, alongside Jennifer.
Thinking out-loud, Jennifer said to Brandy: "I wish I had Peggy Elliott's phone number
"
Amazingly, Brandy had Rev. Dr. Peggy Elliot's current number on her - already programmed into her cell phone! (The Hand-of-God?)
Rev. Dr. Peggy Elliott, is a well known Black proLife activist and author from Minnesota, who now lives in Wichita.
Brandy auto-dialed Rev. Dr. Peggy Elliott and within less than one minute of the car going into Tiller's Parking Lot, Jennifer had Dr. Peggy Elliott on the line.
Rev. Dr. Peggy Elliott, she came out on-site immediately to try to intervene, if she could, when they came out of Tillers - hoping that it would not be too late to save the life of a child.
Just as Peggy Elliott got to the gate (reportedly within one or two seconds)
here came the two black girls out of Tiller's Parking Lot! (The Hand-of-God was in the timing too?)
The car stopped, and, by the grace of God, Rev. Peggy was able to talk to the two young girls.
As soon as informal introductions were made, Jennifer felt that it was better to walk away, and pray, leaving Dr. Elliott alone to talk in some amount of privacy with these two Black girls.
Father Norman Weslin, here in Wichita with the Guadalupe Rosary Crusade for Life, began intense prayer with Jennifer McCoy, while Rev. Peggy Elliott spoke them.
The conversation between Rev. Elliott and the girls lasted about ten minutes, and God certainly had heard the prayers of the good people on-site today.
Just as we worried they would do, Tiller's staff had done a pregnancy test, and upon confirming that she was pregnant, had attempted to talk the driver into having an immediate early-term abortion!
Again, by the Power and Grace of God, Jennifer and the people at the gate had put enough doubt into the minds of these young girls, that the pregnant one opted to "think about it" instead of having an immediate abortion.
Thanks to Rev. Peggy Elliott's quick response, she now has a meeting scheduled with these two girls for later this evening.
This is now what KCFL defines as a Turn-Around, because they did NOT have the abortion today, and could have, and would have, except for the work of the good people at the gate.
However, intense prayers are needed are urgently needed. This is not yet a Confirmed Save.
Please pray that the meeting this evening, that Rev. Elliott's has scheduled with these two ladies will bring this closer to a Confirmed Save.

| Monday the 11th: | CONFIRMED SAVE-1; Jennifer McCoy + CONFIRMED SAVE-2; Jennifer McCoy and Colleen Farran:
CONFIRMED SAVE-1:
At about 12:15 am, a white van, with Ohio tags, (tag number on file) came OUT OF Tillers parking lot, carrying a Black Male about 25 years old, and a Caucasian Female about the same age, who is 33 weeks pregnant.
The KCFL Vehicle Log shows that they had been in Tiller's building since 10:02 am.
Prior to even coming to Wichita, this couple had paid a $1000.00 down payment to Tiller for an abortion that was priced by Tiller at $15.000.00.
(We do not know why this is so low, but it could be that an insurance company was NOT paying for it. We would not have been surprised if it were twice that amount for a 33-week baby, and an insurance company was footing the bill.)
In any case, as they were leaving, they stopped at the gate, but the driver would not roll his window down, so Jennifer had to talk to him, loudly, through the van's window.
She asked him to go to Choices Medical Clinic next door. The man looked over at the lady, in the passenger seat, and they talked for a minute, then he left northbound on Bleckley, in the opposite direction as Choices Medical Clinic.
However, after driving just a few hundred feet north, the driver changed his mind, stopped, turned into the Mazda dealership driveway, turned around and went southbound on Bleckley Street, into Choices Medical Clinic as Jennifer had asked him to do.
They stayed in Choices until about 1:45 pm.
On their way out of Choices Medical Clinic, they stopped and talked to Jennifer. There is a potential that this child has two fetal anomalies, and they are considering an abortion for that reason. They had a sonogram scheduled at Choices later this afternoon to determine how serious the possible anomalies actually are.
Jennifer was careful in the conversation, and in politeness, she did not press for a confirmation of a save. She mostly just listened.
The man told Jennifer; "You are doing a good job!"
He also told Jennifer some things that cannot be printed here and ended by saying that they are trying to work things out [with the pregnancy].
The lady was reading some of the printed material that Jennifer had given to her, and she was crying when they left Choices the first time.
When they came back to Choices Medical Clinic for their afternoon sonogram appointment, Jennifer came out, on-site again, to talk to this couple as they were leaving Choices for the second time today.
This time Jennifer got a confirmation from them that they are going to keep the baby, (PRAISE GOD!) in spite of any medical problems that the baby may have.
Jennifer was able to talk to them at length, and when she asked them exactly what it was that made them change their mind, they told Jennifer that they were shocked by the picture on the side of the Truth-truck which they saw when they came in this morning. He said that once they saw it, they could not bring themselves to do "that" to their baby!
At 33 weeks pregnant, they are aware that their baby, (a little girl) is fully formed, and capable of living outside the womb if she were born today.
This couple is under a lot of stress, and prayers for help for them are urgently needed.
Having traveled from Ohio for an abortion, and now changing their mind and saving their baby, prayers-of-thanksgiving are also in order!
(UPDATE 2008-Aug-16)
They did not return to Tillers throughout the rest of the week - we watched for them, including on Saturday. (Gates were closed all day Saturday) We expect that they returned to Ohio on Tuesday. - loosing the $1000 down payment to Tiller.
CONFIRMED SAVE-2:
At about 1:30 am, a female pedestrian came walking northbound on Bleckley Street.
She was a pretty Black girl, who is 20 years old, and is 12 weeks pregnant. Her name is "Chastity" and she was headed to Tiller's to get information and to schedule an early-term abortion.
As she was walking on the sidewalk toward Tiller's gate she began looking at the picture of the aborted baby on the side of the Truth-truck, which is parked adjacent to Tiller's gate every day that he is open for business.
She was stunned by the picture of the aborted baby on the side of the Truth-truck, and Jennifer and Colleen were able to talk her into going to Choices medical Clinic instead of into Tillers.
This girl had lots of questions for Jennifer and Colleen, and she was impressed that Jennifer and Colleen would be there for her benefit, without receiving a penny of pay.
This beautiful young lady was so amazed that a baby which was already formed, like the one shown on the side of the Truth-truck, could be legally killed. She had no idea whatsoever what an actual abortion was.
Later, when she came out of Choices Medical Clinic, she returned to the gate to talk to Colleen and Jennifer, and was again amazed that all the services at Choices Medical Clinic were free of charge!
Then in an a way that is only understandable, when coming from the mouth of a 20-year-old, she told Jennifer that she wanted to become a sidewalk counselor, to help at the gate like Jennifer and Colleen were doing!
Wow! What a change of heart!
She was sincere too! She gave Jennifer her phone number so that we can contact her for training!
Isn't youth wonderful!
Isn't the truth wonderful!
She went from being a would-be abortion client, to being a proLife activist in a few hours!
(It makes me wonder if it Saint Paul himself did not have his hand in her change of heart!) |
| Monday the 11th: | TURN-AROUND: Colleen and Kaleen Farran:
Near the end of Colleen and Kaleen's shift, just prior to 3:30 pm, a car with a Hispanic couple came toward Tiller's gate, but stopped on Tiller's driveway to talk to Colleen and Kaleen.
The car windows were down, and it was easy for them to accept literature and to listen to what Colleen told them. Colleen urged them to go to Choices Medical Clinic and to stay out of Tiller's facility.
After the brief conversation, and without ever touching Tiller's parking lot whatsoever, they followed Colleen's advice. They backed-up the car, onto Bleckley, and then went directly into Choices Medical Clinic where they stayed until near closing time.
This Turn-Around follows two Confirmed Saves earlier in the day. |
| Monday the 11th: | TURN-AROUND; Randy Blasi:
This Turn-Around happened late in the day. The details of the Turn-Around have not yet been received - and will be posted when received from Randy Blasi. |
| Thursday the 14th: | CONFIRMED SAVE: Gonzalo Vall-Serra, Carmen Wittler and Diane Goebel:
At about 9:11 am, a brunet Caucasian lady, who appears to be in her mid-30's came into Tiller's parking lot in a dark silver, 4-Door Chevy Blazer while Gonzalo Vall-Serra was working the gate.
Gonzalo tried to stop her, and motioned, with hand signals for her to go to Choices Medical Clinic.
She did not stop, but seven minutes later, at 9:18 am, she was back at the gate, and again, Gonzalo directed her to Choices Medical Clinic.
She remained at Choices beyond the end of Gonzalo's shift.
Before leaving the gate, Gonzalo asked Carmen and Diane to watch for her car leaving Choices Medical Clinic.
At 12:15 pm, the lady was leaving Choices, and this time she was willing to stop and talk.
She talked to Diane only briefly, but enough to know that we have a Confirmed Save. |

| Thursday the 31st: | TURN AROUND-1 & 2; Carmen Wittler:
(Reported via e-mail by Carmen Wittler)
TURN-AROUND No.1
This morning I watched Father Frank Pavone and Father Mitch Pacwa on EWTN right before my shift started. They truly inspired me today.
About 10:30 am, a gold sedan with temporary tags, (number on file) driving north on Beckley Street, slowed downed at the gate, they had the windows wide open due to the heat.
The two African-American women slowed down and stopped by the Truth-truck on the right and my baby poster on their left side.
I had the opportunity to tell them about adoptions and Choices Medical Clinic next door. The driver had said that she had an appointment in Tillers.
I told them that there was no going back once you started this. I also advised them of the medical dangers. Then another car from inside Tiller's wanted out, so I asked the two ladies to go into Choices Medical Clinic, which is next door to Tiller's.
They actually pulled-in backwards, by just going in reverse into the Choices parking lot. I walked over, and continued to talk to them. I told them what we all could do for her and her baby. I gave them brochures and spoke to the 3-months-pregnant Mom who was driving the vehicle. She has a tattoo on her left side of her neck which displays Sara.
I mentioned that there are a couple of Choices around the city if she need help. She said; I really need to think about this and will take home the brochure and read it!!!
Then, without going into Choices Medical Clinic, she left southbound on Beckley Street.
ISOLATED INCIDENT, NOT COUNTED AS A TURN-AROUND OR SAVE:
At 11:10 am, a blue car with Kansas tags, came driving north on Beckley Street, and pulled into Tillers Parking Lot. However, at the gate, she slowed down first and we talked a little. She said that she was looking for Choices to pick up her prenatal care pills. This car had only one person in it, one African-American woman. I advised her that she missed their drive way. I said you dont want to go in there
that is the abortion place
She replied
"Youre right, I dont! She drove to Choices and went in.
TURN-AROUND No.2
Then at 11:30 am. A large white SUV with Kansas tag number: (on file), carrying two Hispanic looking females, drove from Kellogg southbound on Beckley Street. The older of the two women was driving
and a three-month pregnant young Mom was in the front passenger seat.
The driver slowed down and I waved at them. She stopped and we talked for a while about the medical dangers of abortions, including Christine Gilbert's death. I recommended that they go to Choices Medical Clinic at the next driveway, but at first she did not go.
It seemed that the driver had purposely stopped her SUV right along side the huge picture of the aborted baby on the Truth-truck, visible from the pregnant Moms side so that she could see the results of an abortion.
I told her; You dont want to have an abortion ...there are lots of people here to help you!"
The driver wanted to know far long during the pregnancy they could get help (i.e., an abortion)?
I mentioned that Tiller does abortions throughout the whole pregnancy.
I gave her the brochure and pleaded with the pregnant Mom for her babies sake. Finally, they went into Choices Medical Clinic, instead of going into Tiller's.
At the end of my shift, at 12:40 pm, they were still in Choices and so I brought a baby blanket from the Truth-truck to the receptionist at Choices to give to the Mom.
I believe that the driver did not want the abortion, in the first place, as she was steering the conversation toward having the baby.
At 11:40 am, Tiller left the facility, just after these ladies went into Choices.
I am praying for them all!
Carmen Wittler
S.W.C. |
| Thursday the 31st: | TURN-AROUND; Amy Rich:
At about 12:50 pm, a car with Kansas Tags came to Tiller's gate, and stopped to talk with Amy, who was the only volunteer on-site at the gate.
There were two people in the car, a young Vietnamese girl, and her mother who does not speak English.
At first Amy assumed that this was a mother bringing in her pregnant daughter for an abortion, but in this case, it is the mother who is pregnant and considering an abortion. The daughter is just along as an interpreter.
The daughter accepted literature from Amy and was interested in what Amy had to say; the mother was willing to wait while her daughter communicated with Amy.
As they were sitting there on Tiller's driveway, Tiller himself, who had left the facility earlier, came up behind the parked car, and began beeping his horn rudely, and waving his arms - as if to tell them to get out of his way!
Tiller could have easily driven around the Vietnamese woman's car, but at that point, they drove into Tiller's parking lot, circled around, letting Tiller get past, and immediately returned to the gate to continue the conversation with Amy Rich.
Amy was delighted, and she was eventually able to get them to go to Choices Medical Clinic.
The Vietnamese mother and daughter are currently in Choices Medical Clinic at the time of this posting!
Please pray that this Turn-Around will become a Confirmed Save before the end of the day.
<<UPDATE 2008-Jul-31, 5:00 pm>>
As so often happens, we do not know for sure that this is a Confirmed Save, and it will remain logged as a Turn-around only, counted at 50%. However, we do know that the pregnant Vietnamese mother and her daughter stayed in Choices Medical Clinic most of the afternoon, until near closing time. They did not return to Tiller's parking lot.
<<UPDATE 2008-Jul-31, 6:00 pm>>
This Incident Report was sent out by e-mail shortly after being posted. Here are some of the more poignant replies:
From: John T Conaghan, Overland Park, KS
Mark,
You can count on our prayers. Your e-mail hits a little closer to home than you know. Our oldest four children are biological, ranging from 18 to 33. In 1998 we adopted 5-month-old Vietnamese twin daughters. We never met the mother but every day I am thankful to God that she gave them life. If it was today, I'd name one of them Amy.
God bless,
John
From: Leslie Tignor, (American Life League, Public Relations)
I most certainly do believe in the power of prayer!! and this one got a lot more than 1/4 of a minute!!
Leslie
From: Robin Jackson
Mark:
Please know that I gathered our family when we saw the email after work and all prayed. please keep us posted. Sometimes I wonder, Mark, if God is waiting for His people to get off their duffs and start praying before He takes Tiller out. At any rate, I know it is His battle and we must be vigilant. God bless you for keeping us all posted.
Robin
From: Judy Hageman
Mark, I just now read this & prayed fervently for them. Prayer is THE MOST powerful thing we can do, but of course! And that only because God is faithful to listen for our prayers and desires to answer them and reinforce our trust and reliance on Him. That also encourages us to go out and DO what we can, knowing how much He cares and that He's with us and behind us and going out before us.
Please let us hear the rest of this story.
Thank you for all you do,
Judy Hageman
From: John T Conaghan
Mark,
Please show this picture to Amy. Abby is on the viewer's left and Emma is on the right. That's Trooper in between (he's an adopted rescue dog). Maybe Amy can show this picture to the mom and tell her that at one time these precious girls were just a couple of beating hearts like the one within her.
I might add that since they were old enough to hold a sign they have accompanied me to the life chain on 95th St, in Overland Park. It seems fitting to give them the sign "Adoption the Loving Option". By the way, Mary Kay Culp and I are something like third cousins by marriage, but we are a lot closer than that.
John
<<UPDATE 2008-Aug-13>>
As of today, they have not returned to Tiller's Facility, and we are taking them off the watch list. |

| Wednesday the 16th: | TURN-AROUND #1 and #2; Therese Dippolito:
Today, Therese was all alone on-site. In spite of being alone, she was able to accomplish two Turn-Arounds:
TURN-AROUND #1: At about 3:00 pm, a young Caucasian couple, who appeared to be about 20 years old, came into Tiller's parking lot in separate cars. She was in a grey Tarsus and he was in a black Corvette (both Kansas tags - both tag numbers on file). They parked on the south side of Tiller's parking lot, in adjacent stalls.
As they walked toward Tiller's entrance, Therese called out to them, and asked them not to kill their baby. About 10 minutes later, they were back at their cars,. Talking to each other, and Therese was able to talk to them over-the-fence.
They talked for about 15 minutes, and the young man did not appreciate Therese's input. Therese reminded them that: "Thou shalt not Kill" is a commandment of God, and she warned them that if they violated it, that they would regret it for the rest of their life!"
The young lady did not say anything to Therese, but she likely appreciated Therese being there, because the man was trying to get her to go back into Tiller's and she kept resisting him. He was hugging her, loving her, and urging her to go back into Tillers with him, but she did not go.
After about 15 minutes of talking, Therese returned to the gate, and, there, talked for about 5 more minutes again (in a raised voice from that distance) for a total conversation time of about 20 minutes.
At that point, the young couple got into their cars and left at 3:30 pm.
The lady came out first. She waived a friendly waive to Therese, smiled, and plainly (quietly) said "Thank you" through her open window - softly, so that he would not hear her. (He also had open car windows and was right behind her.
TURN-AROUND #2:
While Therese was talking over-the-fence to the couple in Turn-Around #1, a young Caucasian lady who is 8-months pregnant, and 25 years old, who was driving a red sedan with Kansas tags (Therese was not able to get the tag number) came walking out of Tillers, to her car, and overheard much of what Therese was saying to the young couple. She eventually started her car, and came directly from Tiller's Parking Lot, to Choices Parking Lot.
Therese was able to tell her that everything at Choices Medical Clinic is free. She parked and went directly in, smiling at Therese as she went past.
The lady remained in Choices Medical Clinic beyond the end of Therese's shift (more than an hour and a half). She did not return to Tillers. |
| Friday the 18th: | TURN-AROUND; Carolyn Stuhlsatz, along with Rebecca, Bethany, and Nicholas Stuhlsatz:
At about 2: pm, a black female, alone in a white Oldsmobile, Cutlass, with Sedgwick County tags, (tag number on file) came into Tiller's lot, but came back to the gate because the parking lot was completely full and she could not find a place to park.
I (Carolyn Stuhlsatz) asked her if I could talk to her, and she asked me where she could find a place to park.
I asked her if she was here for an abortion, and she said "Yes".
I reminded her that God created her baby and told her that its heart is beating right now!
I told her that there was free help available next door at Choices Medical Clinic, where she could get an ultra-sound and see her baby. I also let her know that we would assist her if she needed help financially.
She drove to Choices and just sat there for awhile, reading the brochures that I gave her.
Eventually, she went into Choices Medical Clinic, where she stayed beyond the end of my shift. |

| Wednesday the 9th: | TURN-AROUND: Rick Moss, Jennifer Brown, and Donna Lippoldt:
At about 12:50 pm, two Hispanic ladies in a tan colored SUV with Kansas Tags (?) stopped to accept literature at the gate on their way into Tiller's parking lot. The driver appeared to be the mother of the younger pregnant lady.
They stayed in Tillers only about 10 minutes, then came back to the gate again. They took more literature, and the Mother said that they had decided against having an abortion.
(This would have been counted as a Confirmed Save, but the daughter - the pregnant one, did not say anything to anyone.) |
| Wednesday the 9th: | CONFIRMED SAVE; Betty Chamberlain, Dale Weldy, Mark Gietzen, Donna Lippoldt, and Rick Moss:
At about 8:15 am, a 25-30 year old Hispanic lady, driving a dark-colored Chevrolet SUV with Oklahoma tags (tag number on file), came into Tiller's parking lot carrying her pregnant friend, another similar aged Hispanic lady, and two small children. The driver's friend had an appointment for an abortion.
On their way in, they did not stop, but the driver simply dropped off her friend, and came back out, with the children still in the SUV. At this point, she stopped at the gate, and began a conversation that lasted about 15 minutes, with Betty Chamberlain, Dale Weldy, and me (Mark Gietzen).
The driver did not want her friend to have an abortion, but was only trying to help her. We tried to get her to go back in and bring her friend to Choices Medical Clinic, but she would not, although she was sympathetic to our efforts.
We kept talking to her until Tiller's employee, "Bonnie" came up behind her in her car, and honked her horn rudely, moving her off the driveway.
The lady had taken literature from Betty Chamberlain.
Then, at about 12:05 pm, while Rick Moss and Donna Lippoldt were on-site, the lady stopped at the gate again, with her friend in the vehicle, on her way out of Tillers.
The driver talked to Rick, and the pregnant lady talked to Donna. The driver told Rick that they had decided, at the last minute, against having an abortion, and Donna, who was talking to the pregnant lady, got a confirmation from her, that she was not going to have an abortion.
The literature that was given to the driver on the way OUT of Tillers played a pivotal role in saving this child's life.
The important lesson in this save, is that literature should be offered both to vehicles going IN and OUT of Tiller's gate. |
| Friday the 11th: | TURN-AROUND - Donna Lampkin.
Shortly after Donna came out on-site, a young black lady, about 20 years old, who was in a black sedan with Sedgwick County Kansas Tags, was coming into Tiller's parking lot, and she stopped and talked to Donna.
Although she is pregnant, she told Donna that she was not the one who was considering an abortion, but rather, her Mom was inside Tiller's with her 16-year-old sister who is 9 1/2 weeks pregnant, and she is intending to have an early-term abortion this afternoon.
Donna gave the lady literature, and urged her to go in to try to talk her sister out of having the abortion. The lady said that both she and her sister had been to Choices Medical Clinic previously, but that her 16 year-old sister is not sure that she will be able to support the child.
Nevertheless, Donna was able to get the lady to go in, and to take some additional printed material to give to the younger sister and her mother inside.
It worked!
After being inside for about an hour and 30 minutes, she came back out to the gate, and said
that she had successfully talked her Mother and her Sister into not having the abortion.
When Donna asked her why they changed their minds, she proudly said:
"They changed their mind, because I talked them out of it!"
She accepted a baby blanket for her younger sister, and was proud of herself for having talked her sister and her Mom into not going through with an abortion.
(Again printed literature played an important role in this save.) |

| Monday the 30th: | CONFIRMED SAVE; Jennifer McCoy:
At about 11:30 am, a pregnant mixed-race (Caucasian-White) lady in a green Bronco with Sedgwick County, Kansas tags, who is about 21 years old, came northbound on Bleckley Street, intending to turn into Tiller's, but when Jennifer approached her, she drove past and went north to Kellogg Street, where she turned around.
She then came back south on Bleckley street, and met Jennifer on the street and talked to her.
Her name is Aerial. She had a one year-old baby boy in the vehicle with her, and she is now 3-months pregnant. She accepted literature from Jennifer, and immediately looked at it. She was visibly moved by the photos on the Truth-truck.
Jennifer was able to direct her to Choice Medical Clinic, where she stayed in for about 45 minutes.
When Aerial came out of Choices, Jennifer was still on-site. Aerial came back to the gate to tell Jennifer that she is keeping her baby.
She took Jennifer's phone number, in case she needs further help.
This Confirmed Save is the direct result of aggressive work at the gate on Jennifer's part, and the effect of the Truth-truck. The lady went from being abortion-minded to life-minded about one-hour's time. |

| Monday the 16th: | CONFIRMED SAVE; Colleen & Kaleen Farran, and Diane Palmer:
At 3:12 pm, a Kansas car with a dent in its side, pulled into Tiller's driveway. The car was carrying a young Caucasian couple. (Tag Number is on file)
They stopped on Tiller's driveway, and Colleen was able to talk them into going to Choices Medical Clinic. After speaking to Colleen, they backed up, onto Bleckley Street, and parked in the parking lot of Choices Medical Clinic instead of at Tillers. They went inside and stayed almost an hour.
At 4:05 pm, after Colleen and Kaleen had left, and Diane Palmer was on-site, the couple came out of Choices Medical Clinic.
Diane knew what was going on, because Colleen had told her prior to leaving.
Diane talked to the young couple, and offered them a baby blanket, which they accepted. Diane indicates in her notes that the couple was friendly, and that they thanked her for her prayers and help. |
| Tuesday the 17th: | TURN-AROUND; Betty Chamberlain:
At about 2:00 pm, a Hispanic Man, about 35 years old, with his wife and a 15 year-old daughter who is two months pregnant, came into Tillers for an early-term abortion.
The mother of the 15 year-old was crying as they went in, but they did not stop at the gate.
The man dropped the Mother and daughter off at Tiller's door, and then immediately came back out, without parking his car.
On his way out, Betty was able to stop him, and talk to him. He felt terrible about the abortion idea, and when Betty told him that all kinds of help is available free-of-charge at Choices Medical Clinic next door, he was receptive to the idea of going over there instead of to Tiller's.
Betty suggested to him, to go back in and get them, and to take them to Choices Medical Clinic instead.
Without driving onto Bleckley Street at all, he put his car into reverse, went back to Tiller's door, picked up his wife and daughter, and went over to Choices Medical Clinic.
The family remained at Choices Medical Clinic beyond the end of Betty's shift at 3:00 pm. |
| Friday the 20th: | TURN-AROUND # 1 and # 2; David and Irma Schmidt:
At about 4:20 pm, two pregnant young (about 25 and about 23 years old) long dark-haired, Hispanic, ladies who parked their car on Orme Street, came walking past Choices Medical Clinic, and were headed into Tillers gate when Irma and David stopped them.
They were willing to talk, and both David and Irma speak Spanish fluently. They said that they were going in to Tiller's for a pregnancy test, but both of them already knew that they were pregnant.
The older one is 3 1/2 months pregnant, and the younger one is between two and three months pregnant.
Apparently, the pregnancy test was to determine the age of the fetus, to determine how much it was going to cost each of them to kill their unborn child.
Irma, who grew up in Puerto Rico, could recognize from their speech, that these two young ladies are from Mexico, because of the dialect of their Spanish language.
By the grace of God, Choices Medical Clinic was open late, and David and Irma were eventually able to get both of them to go over to the ProLife Choices Medical Clinic. The young ladies stayed in for about one hour, and apparently it was a successful session.
At 6:04 pm as I was arriving for the closing shift, Choices was still open, having been held up by these two late Friday afternoon visitors. Marilyn, from Choices Medical Clinic cannot reveal any private medical information, but she had some positive words for me.
These two Turn-Arounds prove that it is possible to save lives on ANY shift at Tiller's gate, not just on those shifts where clients are coming to keep their appointments. |

| Friday the 13th: | TURN-AROUND; Jerry & Barbara Meyer and Donna Lampkin:
At about 12:55 a nice lady, who appeared to be in her early 20's, Caucasian, with long bright carrot-orange colored hair in a pony-tail, came down Bleckley Street in a silver Nissan with Kansas Tags, and turned onto Tiller's drive way.
As she made her turn onto Tiller's driveway, she stopped with the majority of her car still on Bleckley Street, and only the front tire on Tiller's driveway. She was willing to talk to Donna and Barbara.
Even though she was not legally parked, Donna and Barbra convinced her to stay right there, without going in any further while they talked to her.
She accepted literature and eventually decided to go to the proLife Choices Medical Clinic, which is located next door to Tiller's abortion facility.
She stayed in Choices Medical Clinic until 2:25 pm, then left on Orme street, without ever going into Tiller's facility.
She was considering an abortion due to economic hardship. She already has two small children and there does not appear to be a supportive father in the picture.
When she left Choices at 2:25 pm, Jerry and Barbara had already left, and Donna was talking to another pregnant lady, and was not able to get the rest of the story from her. Otherwise, this may have been counted as a Confirmed Save, because Choices Medical Clinic is so good at what they do. (However, Choices cannot share information with KCFL; we have to get it from the clients themselves.)
There is a 90% chance that this story will have a happy ending, and that we will not see her again, but this is being counted as a Turn-Around for lack of verbal confirmation. |

| Wednesday the 28th: | TURN-AROUND; Therese and Lucy Dippolito:
At 3:45 pm a white sedan with Kansas tags, carrying two black women stopped at Tiller's gate. Only one of the ladies was pregnant. The ladies talked to Therese and Lucy at length, and accepted literature.
Therese and Lucy told them about Carhart's history and gave them a copy of Carhart Speaks.
The ladies said that they were going to go in and check it out anyway.
About 15 minutes later, they came out, without having had an abortion. |

Here is an e-mail from Colleen about the event.
MAY 19, 2008
MARK,
DONNA STOPPED BY TODAY, AND WE SAW AN OLD BATTERED BLACK CAR COME INTO TILLERS WITH A YOUNG COUPLE, BOTH HAD DARK HAIR. THEY WERE IN THERE 30-45 MINUTES. WE DIDN'T TALK YO THEM ON THEIR WAY IN. (but Donna talked to them in the parking lot.) DONNA LEFT A BLANKET WITH ME FOR THEM WHEN SHE LEFT.
I TALKED TO THEM WHEN THEY WERE COMING OUT OF TILLERS, AND THEY TOOK THE BLANKET THAT DONNA WANTED ME TO GIVE TO THEM.
I ASKED IF THEY WOULD TAKE A BLANKET FOR THEIR BABY, THEY SAID. "YES, THANK YOU!"
I TOLD THEM THAT CHOICES MEDICAL CLINIC WOULD HELP THEM. THEY LEFT AND DID NOT GO TO CHOICES, BUT WERE SMILING.
I DON'T THINK THEY WILL GO BACK TO TILLERS.
I FORGOT TO GET LISCENSE NO. DON'T THINK DONNA DID EITHER.
(This e-mail also contained information on a different case.)

| Wednesday the 21st: | CONFIRMED SAVE; Cathy Somes, Luke Somes, Joy Drouhard, Rick Moss and Faith Klug:
At about 10:10 am, when Cathy Somes, and her son, Luke were on-site at the gate of the Tiller Abortion Facility, a young black lady in her 20's came walking across Bleckley Street toward Tiller's gate, intending to go into his facility.
Cathy Somes approached her before she got to Tiller's gate, and encouraged her to talk.
She is six weeks pregnant, and she told Cathy that her boyfriend, (who was not with her) wants her to have an abortion
because he does not want a baby.
Cathy was able to re-direct her to the ProLife Choices Medical Clinic, next door to Tiller's for a free sonogram, and she kept her from going into Tillers.
Cathy walked with her to Choices' door, and introduced her to the receptionist at Choices Medical Clinic. She remained there that at Choices beyond the end of Cathy's shift.
Cathy describes her as a beautiful black lady in her early 20's, well dressed, alone, and in an emotionally distressed mood.
Cathy shared this event with Joy Drouhard, when Joy replaced Cathy and Luke on-site. Then Joy shared the events with Rick Moss, when he showed up on-site for his shift at about noon.
Then at about 12:40 pm, when Rick was the volunteer on-site, the pregnant young black lady came back to the gate again, and began talking to Rick.
According to Rick, she seemed scared and agitated, and she was holding information from Choices Medical clinic in her hand. However, she was very willing to talk to Rick and to let him know what was going on.
She told Rick that she wanted to keep the baby, and that it was her boyfriend who did not want the child. She now intends to keep this baby.
She also told Rick, that her car was in the shop, that she needed a ride to the SRS office, to apply for benefits, as the counselor at Choices Medical Clinic advised her to do.
Unfortunately, Rick was the only volunteer on-site at that time, and he explained to her that he could not leave until his replacement showed up at 1:30 pm.
Providentially, at about that time, Faith Klug showed up on-site unexpectedly, and she offered to help.
At the time of this posting, this young would-be abortion client is with Faith Klug at the SRS Office in Wichita, making arrangements to keep her child.
Prayers of thanksgiving for the chain of events that led to this successful outcome, and on-going prayers for this young lady are requested. |
| Thursday the 22nd: | TURN-AROUND; Lori Vance and Margaret Mans:
Lori stopped an Oklahoma car that was going into Tillers. It was carrying an African-American couple, and she was able to hold them on the driveway, in conversation, for a reported 20 minutes without interruption from security.
During the 20 minutes with the abortion-bound client, Lori was able to determine that the lady did NOT want the abortion, but that only her male partner wanted her to have one.
They eventually left Tiller's driveway, saying that they were going to get something to drink. When they came back, the driver, (the male) came past Lori at a high rate of speed, and entered Tiller's parking lot without stopping.
About 1/2 an hour after they went into Tillers, the two were seen arguing in the parking lot. Again, it was clear that the lady did not want to go in, and the male was trying to get her to go through with an abortion.
When that was reported to me, I (Mark Gietzen) called the police.
The police were quick to respond, and the officer separated the quarreling couple.
After being on-site for about 15 minutes, the police officer left, followed closely (within a few minutes) by the Black couple.
They did not return to Tiller's this week. |

However, at about 1:05 pm, she came back to the gate, in her car, and voluntarily stopped at the gate and talked to Jennifer.
She is considering an early term abortion. Jennifer gave her literature and offered her help at Choices Medical Clinic. The girl did not go immediately to Choices, but she said that she might come later to see what Choices Medical Clinic has to offer.
CONFRMED SAVE-1,
At about 1:30 pm, a Hispanic girl who works at McDonalds, came in to Tiller's parking lot, in her work uniform in a red truck. (Kansas Tag information on file).
She stopped at the gate to talk to Jennifer, in broken English. She is three or four months pregnant, and she was abortion-bound.
Jennifer tried, successfully, to talk her into going to Choices Medical Clinic next door.
Jennifer was able to talk to her for over five minutes. Eventually, this young lady backed up, without ever setting a foot or a tire on Tiller's property.
She went directly to Choices Medical Clinic, where she stayed beyond the end of Jennifer's shift.
CONFIRMED SAVE-2,
Information on this awesome Confirmed Save, is too private to post publicly, without compromising a wonderful occurrence and situation that happened inside of Tiller's Abortion Facility, today, between the hours of 12:pm and 2 pm. (For more information, on a need-to-know basis, call Jennifer McCoy, 316-871-0762.) |

(Via e-mail from Cheryl Sullenger).
...By the way, I am pretty sure we had a turn-away while we were at the mill. A couple came during the time when the early terms show up and drove past us and around the block. The came back and went into the lot, and we called out to her. A few minutes later, they both left Tiller's parking lot
Cheryl Sullenger.
This car did not return as of Friday, May 16th. |
| Friday the 16th: | CONFIRMED SAVE; Joe Myers and Donna Lampkin,
In the early afternoon a black sedan carrying two young Caucasian ladies from Parsons, Kansas, (tag number on file) who appear to be in their early twenties came in for an early-term abortion. Only one is pregnant, the other lady is a friend who was acting as a support person. They did NOT stop at the gate to take literature.
At 3:09 pm they came out of Tillers, and voluntarily stopped at the gate to talk to Donna Lampkin and Joe Myers.
The pregnant lady told Donna and Joe that she had changed her mind about having an abortion, and was just not going to go through with it.
Donna complimented her on her decision and asked what made her change her mind.
The lady said (words to the effect of): "I don't know, it was just the Luck-of-the-Lord!"
Donna offered a baby blanket and it was accepted.
Joe and Donna tried to get them to go to Choices Medical Clinic for help, but they declined, saying that there is a Crisis Pregnancy place near where they live. |

| Friday the 9th: | CONFIRMED SAVE; Donna Lampkin & Bob Young.
Even though Donna Lampkin was not on the schedule today, she came out on-site for three hours to assist Bob Young, a KCFL volunteer from New York, who has been in Wichita, Kansas these past few weeks, taking several shifts on-site at the Tiller Late-Term Abortion facility.
During her time on-site today, there were two (2) Confirmed Saves; one by a Hispanic lady and one by an African-American lady.
CONFIRMED SAVE # 1:
At 12:55 pm, a young-looking Hispanic female in a black Gran Prix, with Kansas Tags (tag number on file) approached Tiller's gate. She was alone in the vehicle, and she stopped to talk to Donna and to take some literature.
Donna attempted to get her to go over to the proLife Choices Medical Clinic, which is located next door to Tiller's abortion facility, but she declined and went on into Tillers for her scheduled early-term abortion.
By the grace of God, an hour and five minutes later, at about 2 pm, she came back to the gate, and voluntarily talked to Donna.
In broken English, and with words filled with emotion, the young lady said to Donna: "I didn't take it out!" meaning, she did not have the abortion.
She went on to tell Donna that when she got inside, she changed her mind, and just could not do it.
Donna again attempted to get her to go to Choices Medical Clinic for help, but she declined the offer of help, and left after brief conversation.
CONFIRMED SAVE # 2:
At 12:50 pm, just prior to the time that the above vehicle in Confirmed Save # 1 came in, two African-American females came in to Tiller's facility, in a blue Chevy Malibu, with Sedgwick County, Kansas, Tags (tag number on file).
They did not stop on their way in, but Donna attempted to talk to them as they walked across Tiller's parking lot.
They left Tillers at 2:35 pm, while Donna was completing the report on Confirmed Save #1, and also stopped to talk to Donna on their way out.
Only one of the women was pregnant, the other had come along as a support person.
The pregnant lady told Donna that she did not have the abortion as planned... that she just could not go through with it.
Donna offered her help at Choices Medical Clinic, and she declined. Donna offered her a baby blanket, but she declined that as well, saying: "I am okay. Thanks, but I am going to be okay." |

Around 7:30 am, while setting Crosses, an orange 1960's sports car sedan came in with a Caucasian couple. They stopped at the gate, and briefly talked to me. I asked them not to kill the baby, and invited them to come over to Choices Medical Clinic.
The lady who was in the passenger seat had long black hair, and she looked very distressed, and was noticeably pregnant, even in the sitting position.
They accepted literature, but immediately after taking it, went on into Tiller's parking lot, and walked to Tiller's door..
Then, about 15 minutes later, they left without saying a word.
This vehicle was not seen again as of May 2nd.

| Wednesday the 16th: | TURN AROUND; Colleen Farran:
At 2:35 pm two young Hispanic ladies in a red Sedan, an Intrepid, (tag number on file) with Sedgwick County Kansas Tags, and a FOR SALE Sign in the back window, bearing phone number (also on file) stopped at the gate to talk to Colleen.
Colleen asked them to reconsider their decision to have an abortion, and urged them to go to Choices Medical Clinic. Colleen told them that all help at Choices Medical Clinic is free-of-charge.
After a brief conversation, and without further hesitation, to Colleen's delight, the driver put her car in reverse, backed out onto Bleckley Street, and went directly to Choices Medical Clinic.
Colleen is now engaged in intense prayer on-site, and she asks you to immediately join her in a brief prayer where ever you are.
(More later today. Check the website at: www.kcfl.net - then click on Project LPPPA, then on Notable Incident Reports
It will likely be the top one on the list.)
<<< UPDATE, CORRECTION & UPGRADE >>>
Just prior to 3:30 pm, Colleen called back. She was able to talk to the two ladies as they left Choices Medical Clinic.
The pregnant lady has decided to keep her baby, and gave Colleen verbal confirmation of her decision.
Colleen offered them a baby blanket, for the baby, and they accepted and happily waited while Colleen went to the Truth-truck to get one for them.
Correction: Kaleen who normally is with Colleen was not here today.
This Turn-Around has been upgraded to a CONFIRMED SAVE.
A big "Thank You" to all who took a moment to say a prayer today.
Prayer remains our most powerful tool on this project. |

| Tuesday the 1st: | TURN-AROUND 1 + 2; Donna Lampkin:
TURN-AROUND-1
In the early afternoon, prior to 1:00 pm, a young Caucasian lady in a red sedan with Kansas tags came slowly southbound down Bleckley Street, and appeared to be looking for an address. She went slowly past Tillers, then turned around in the Choices Medical Clinic parking lot, and parked in the No Parking Zone, facing north, on Bleckley Street. She did not get out of her car, rather, she just sat there and waited.
Donna came over and offered her literature, and she accepted it. She told Donna that she was waiting on someone who had an appointment for an abortion. Donna urged her not to let her friend have an abortion, warning her of what it would actually do to her, and how it would make her feel in years to come. The lady listened, but she was not sure that she could make her friend change her mind.
Some time later, a 2nd red car, this one a Stratus, also carrying a young Caucasian lady, came down Bleckley Street and turned into Tillers.
Immediately, the first red car followed the second red car into Tillers parking lot, and the two ladies walked into Tiller's together. This was the 5th client that came in while Donna was on-site.
Then, near the end of Donna's shift, at about 3:40 pm, before any of the other abortion client cars had come out, both of the above red cars, with the young ladies driving them, came back out of Tillers parking lot. It was obvious to Donna that the pregnant one had not had her abortion, from her demeanor. They did not stop and talk on their way out, but coming out, out-of-order was also an indication that they did not go through with an abortion.
Neither red car was seen again at Tillers this week.
This is not sufficient evidence to count it as a Confirmed Save, but it is sufficient evidence to count this as a Turn-Around.
TURN-AROUND-2
After the above two red cars went in, a lady in a white sedan came in to Tiller's parking lot. She stayed in too long to simply pick up the information pack, but not long enough to have had an abortion. Her car did not return to Tillers this week. This was also a Kansas tag, but from a county other than Sedgwick. |
| Wednesday the 2nd: | TURN-AROUND; Betty Bailey and Margaret Weaver: (via e-mail)
Hi Mark,
This happened around 1:00 last Wednesday.
Just after we visited with a man who claimed to have spent 40 minutes in the parking lot trying to talk his "friend" out of going into the facility, a black couple came out. I asked them to take some literature and they stopped just outside the gates to talk. They weren't overly friendly, but the man did say they didn't do anything. As I had seen the car go in earlier, I'm sure they didn't. Margaret tried to talk them into going over to Choices and I tried to get them to take a blanket, but they drove off kind of suddenly instead.
I hope this helps.
Betty
Note: There was a Margaret there, but I don't know her last name.
I think it definitely qualifies as a turnaround. The driver clearly stated, "We didn't do anything." He just declined to elaborate. And I'm pretty sure they weren't inside long enough either. I'm counting it, myself, because they just don't get much clearer. |

| Thursday the 20th: | CONFIRMED SAVE; Margaret Weaver & Margaret Mans:
At about 1:30 pm, a blue / grey Ford Taurus with Kansas Tags, carrying three young black people came into Tiller's parking lot. They did not stop to take material at the gate. Rather, they drove directly to the far (east) side of Tiller's parking lot and parked their car.
It looked to Margaret Weaver like it was a young black couple, with a very young teenaged girl who was pregnant.
Since they were over 100 feet away from the gate where she was standing, and since they had not taken literature at the gate, Margaret Weaver tried to talk to them in a raised voice, yelling; "WE CAN HELP YOU
, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO KILL THE BABY
, MAKE AN INFORMED DECISION, WE CAN GIVE YOU A FREE SONOGRAM
, IF YOU KILL THAT BABY YOU WILL REGRET IT FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE!... Etc."
In response, all three of them just looked at Margaret Weaver as though she was crazy.
They walked out of sight toward the entrance, with Margaret Weaver continuing to try to communicate with them, yelling to be heard, not yelling to be harsh, (there is a difference!)
Thinking that it was just another killing of an unborn black child, Margaret Weaver continued to pray at the gate, attempting to hand out material to other clients who were coming and going.
Then about 15 minutes later, to Margaret Weaver's complete surprise, the three of them came out of Tiller's and stopped their car at the gate. The driver rolled down his window and asked Margaret for directions, quote: "...to where ever it is that we can get that free sonogram that you told us about!"
Margaret said; "Well that is pretty easy! It is right here, next door.." pointing to the ProLife Choices Medical Clinic.
At 2:00 pm, Margaret Weaver was replaced on-site by Margaret Mans, and Margaret Weaver explained to Margaret Mans what had happened.
When the three young black people, (one guy and two ladies, only one of which was pregnant) came out of Choices Medical Clinic, the pregnant lady told Margaret Mans that she had decided to keep her child, and was happy about her decision. They talked at length with Margaret Mans.
As it turned out, this was not a case of parents with a young pregnant child, but rather just three young black people - no parents involved!
Margaret Mans offered the girl a baby blanket, and she accepted.
Later in the day, we also got confirmation from a Choices Medical Clinic volunteer that things had gone well with them.
This case is of particular interest to many on-site volunteers, because right now there is some general argument as to whether or not one should raise their voice at the gate.
I think that a raised voice, offering loving words, is entirely appropriate when one needs to raise their volume in order to be heard.
On the other hand, a raised voice, with judgmental words of condemnation is counter-productive and should always be avoided. This applies to both clients and staff.
This is our 327th Documented Save on this project.
Please say a prayer for this young mother-to-be. She has made a positive decision, but she has many difficulties that she will have to deal with in the weeks, months and years ahead. |

| Friday the 7th: | CONFIRMED SAVE; Donna Lampkin & Bryan Burkemper:
At 12:42 pm two ladies from Great Bend, in a car with Barton County, Kansas Tags, came into Tillers for a scheduled early-term Abortion.
(Only the driver is pregnant, the other lady is a friend who came along as a support-person, and to drive in case the pregnant lady was not able to drive back following her intended abortion.)
As they came in, through Tiller's gate they yelled obscenities at Donna and Bryan.
They stayed in Tillers until about 2:30 pm. When they came out they stopped at the gate and apologized to Donna and Bryan. The pregnant lady (the driver), was very excited and emotional, and was talking, according to Donna, "90 miles per hour". She told Donna and Bryan that she has changed her mind about having an abortion, and she showed Donna a sonogram picture of her baby. She had a lengthy conversation with Donna, after which she took literature and some baby clothing items from Donna.
Both of these ladies had a lot of information that they were willing to share.
The driver, is eight weeks pregnant, and she has some physical anomalies in her reproductive organs, but none that threaten the safety of this pregnancy. (She already has one older child.) Nevertheless, she was very nervous and was smoking a cigarette while she talked.
This mother-to-be, who is not a religious person, said that she was not sure about having an abortion in the first place; rather, she was looking for "a sign" that she should keep her baby.
Apparently, the fact that Tiller wanted her to come back to have the abortion when she is further along in her pregnancy, was a satisfactory sign to her, that she should not have the abortion. (Note that at eight weeks the baby is so small that it is hard for Tiller's staff to re-assemble the dead baby body parts following the abortion.) The early-term price is good through 12 weeks.
Speaking of price, these ladies informed Donna and Bryan that Tiller has raised his prices for abortions and sonograms.
Sonograms are now $100 instead of $90. Early-term abortions, which were $475 are now $675.
We have been expecting this rise in prices ever since the Central Street Abortion Facility closed. We now have confirmation of it.
The woman talked at length to Donna and Bryan, and left on a friendly note. Donna tried to get them to go to Choices Medical Clinic, but they said that they preferred to seek help at a pregnancy crisis center nearer to Great Bend. The pregnant mother is unmarried, and she may already be familiar with the help available in Great Bend, as she already has an older child.
Prayers are requested for this lady and her child. She has many difficulties in her life right now, and needs all the help and prayers that she can get. |

| Friday the 29th: | TURN-AROUNDS: 1 - 2 - 3 & 4, Donna Lampkin and Margaret Weaver:
All four of these Turn-Arounds occurred during the same shift, while Donna and Margaret were at the gate. In each case, the people left too soon to have had an abortion. All four of these were among a large group of early-term abortions scheduled for Friday afternoon. None of these have returned as of Friday, March 7th.
Turn-Around-1: Appeared to be a Father / Daughter pair, and the man stayed out in the parking lot, after taking, what appeared to be his daughter, inside. He parked on the south side, facing east, where he had a direct view of the Truth-truck as he sat in his black pick-up truck with RL County, Kansas Tags. Donna and Margaret repeatedly talked to him as he sat there waiting, and eventually he went in and returned with his apparent daughter. They came in at 1:10 pm and left at 2 pm, not enough time to have had an abortion.
Turn-Around-2: A young Caucasian couple in a white Mustang came in at 12:45 pm, and left at 2:15 pm - too soon to have had an abortion. No other information was reported with this Turn-Around.
Turn-Around-3: A young Oriental couple in a light blue car with Arkansas tags, came in at 12:30 and left at 2:20. Usually out-of-state cars are here for late-term abortions, because early-term abortions are normally available closer to home for them. Therefore, we typically see the out-of-state cars repeatedly through the week. However, this was the only appearance of this car this week. It is possible that they are moving to Kansas and just did not yet change their tags.
<<< UPDATE 2008-Mar-13 >>>
Unfortunately, this young couple, in the same car, came in for an abortion today. Apparently they changed their mind about not having an abortion. The Turn-Around count has been adjusted accordingly.
Turn-Around-4: This was a Mother / Daughter pair, with the daughter driving. They came in at 12:45 pm, and left at 2:55 pm, too soon to have had an abortion. The younger lady was driving both in and out. They were in a light blue sedan, and no tag information was given in the report. |

| Tuesday the 19th: | CONFIRMED SAVE; Donna Lampkin & Jo Ann Wendling:
At about 11:50 am, as Donna was beginning her shift, a red sedan with Sedgwick County, Kansas tags, came into Tiller's parking lot and parked on the south side. There were two people in the vehicle, including a lady who is eight weeks pregnant, who had an appointment for an abortion today.
Being on the south side of Tiller's parking lot, Donna was able to talk to them from the gate. Donna urged them to go next door to Choices Medical Clinic, and she begged them not to kill their baby.
However, in spite of Donna's urging them not to kill the baby, they walked on into Tiller's anyway.
But about ten minutes later, at about high noon, they came back out of Tillers and went to their car - they did not stop at the gate, but rather drove directly to the proLife Choices Medical Clinic, which is located next door to Tiller's facility. They stayed at Choices most of the afternoon.
At about 2:30 pm, the non-pregnant lady came out and talked to Donna at the gate. She said that her friend had seen the sonogram of her baby, and was thinking about keeping it.
Later the pregnant lady came out of Choices Medical Clinic, and also came over to talk to Donna at the gate. She confirmed that she is keeping her baby. She accepted some baby clothing and a baby blanket from Donna.
Donna urged the non-pregnant lady, who seemed most open to the proLife message, to help and support the pregnant lady in her decision, and she gave her a CD produced by Life Dynamics, to help her make this a permanent decision.
As always, continued prayers for the pregnant lady and her baby are requested, because although this save meets our standards for classification as a "Confirmed Save", there is always a chance that a person like this mother-to-be, could change her mind in the weeks and months ahead, and have an abortion. (But that is rare among those who have seen their baby via the sonogram.) |
| Friday the 22nd: | TURN-AROUND; Donna Lampkin & Margaret Weaver.
A young lady who is a student at Friends University, came into Tillers for an appointment in the early afternoon. She is 8 weeks pregnant.
Donna was able to talk to her at the gate, and found out that the lady herself does not want to have an abortion, but that she is being pushed into having the abortion by family members.
By the Grace and Help of God, Donna was able to convince the lady to not to go into Tillers, but rather to go to the proLife Choices Medical Clinic which is located next door to Tiller's Abortion Facility.
Without going into Tiller's building at all, the lady followed Donna's advice, and went into Choices Medical Clinic where she spent most of the afternoon.
Although we did not get direct confirmation from her that she is keeping her baby, we know that her's was a successful visit to Choices Medical Clinic.
Nevertheless, we are counting this as a Turn-Around only until we have direct confirmation of the save from her, or other information that would justify classification as a Confirmed Save. |

| Tuesday the 12th: | TURN-AROUND; Donna Lampkin:
Two young women in a black SUV with Kansas Tags came into Tiller's in the early afternoon and stopped on the driveway to take literature from Donna.
Only one of the two ladies was pregnant, and she was a Caucasian-Hispanic looking lady, here with a Caucasian lady friend who came along as a support person.
After taking the literature, they went into Tiller's building, but they did not stay long. On their way out, they stopped again on the driveway, and talked some more with Donna. The non-pregnant lady seemed more receptive to the proLife message than did the pregnant lady.
They told Donna that she did not have an abortion, and in fact never even actually checked-in. She has not had a sonogram to determine how far along she is, but she thought that she was about 2 months pregnant.
Donna attempted to get them to go to the proLife Choices Medical Clinic, next door, but they declined. They did, however, accept a baby-blanket and some other baby items that Donna gave to them.
(This cannot be counted as a Confirmed Save, because the pregnant lady did not confirm that she was keeping the baby. All we know for sure is that she did not have the abortion today. Note that Confirmed Saves are counted at 100% while Turn-Arounds are counted at 50%.) |
| Thursday the 14th: | CONFIRMED SAVE; Donna Lampkin:
It being Saint Valentine's Day, Donna said that she was depressed to think that people would come in to Tiller's to have their child killed on this day set aside for love.
However, it was Donna's love for mothers and babies that prevailed in this case today.
Donna was standing at the gate alone, because we are so short of on-site volunteers this week, when at about 12:40 pm, a young Hispanic lady, in a Red Ford SUV with Sedgwick County, KS tags, stopped on Tiller's driveway, to talk to Donna.
She accepted printed material from Donna, and fortunately, Donna was prepared with both English and Spanish language literature in her hand.
The young lady is two months pregnant, and she was here for a scheduled early-term abortion. She could speak very little English, and after a minute or two, she went into Tiller's parking lot and parked on the south side.
She did not immediately exit her car, rather she was looking at the literature that Donna had given to her.
When she got out of the car, instead of walking towards Tiller's door, she came to the gate to talk to Donna some more.
In spite of the language barrier, Donna was able to invite her to go to the proLife "Choices Medical Clinic", next door to Tiller's abortion facility.
It was about 12:45 pm when Donna introduced her to the Choices receptionist - who immediately called in their interpreter, ...who arrived in just a few minutes by car.
The young lady stayed in Choices Medical Clinic for about 2.5 hours.
KCFL Volunteers, Margaret Mans and Craig Schiefelbein were on-site when at about 3:15 pm, the young lady and the interpreter came out of Choices Medical Clinic. This enabled Donna to talk to her some more without having to worry about traffic at the gate.
The young lady confirmed that she is keeping her baby, and she accepted a gift of some baby clothing from Donna. She seemed very happy with her decision to keep her child, and she is scheduled for a follow-up appointment at Choices Medical Clinic in early March.
Donna's shift ended on a humorous note, because the Choices interpreter was leaving at about the same time that the young Hispanic lady walked into Tiller's parking lot to get her vehicle.
Upon seeing the young Hispanic lady walk into Tiller's parking lot, and not knowing that her vehicle was in there, the Choices interpreter went rushing right in after her, thinking that she may have changed her mind, or misunderstood something.
When her mistake was discovered, there was laughter and love in the air at Tiller's gate.
I think that Donna's willingness to stand at Tiller's gate, hour-after-hour, day-after-day in anticipation of saving a baby's life and saving the mother from a future filled with regrets, is a sign of TRUE LOVE.
This is our 322nd documented save since Mother's Day, 2004.
Happy Saint Valentine's Day! |

| Thursday the 7th: | TURN-AROUND; Donna Lampkin & Joy Drouhard:
In the early afternoon, a Caucasian couple in a blue pick-up truck, with Finney County, KS tags, inadvertently parked in the Choices parking lot, when they intended to go into Tiller's parking lot.
They discovered their error after going inside Choices, and then parked in Tiller's parking lot.
Donna attempted to speak to them as they walked from their pick-up truck to the door, but they would not respond.
They stayed in Tiller's for about 1/2 an hour, then walked to their vehicle and left. They had not been in long enough to have had an abortion.
This vehicle has not returned to Tiller's as of Feb-15th. |

| Thursday the 24th: | TURN-AROUND; Donna Lampkin & Margaret Mans;
At about 1:30 pm, two ladies in a large black Cadillac Escalade came into Tiller's parking lot. They came in slowly and hesitatingly, but did not stop to talk or to take literature. Donna attempted to speak to them as they walked across Tiller's parking lot to the door. Having a personalized tag (tag number is on file) it was an easy car to keep track of, and 2 hours after coming in, they left Tillers, and went directly to Choices Medical Clinic.
Then, on Friday, January 25th, the same car with the same personalized plate, and the same two ladies, came back to Choices Medical Clinic, apparently for a follow-up appointment there. When they left, after staying at Choices for about 3 hours, they went past Tillers, without returning again.
This vehicle was on the watch-list until Feb-4th, and has not been see back at Tillers. |
| Friday the 25th: | CONFIRMED SAVE; David & Irma Schmidt, and Rev. Pastor Joe Wright (former pastor of Central Christian Church).
This Confirmed Save is something of a multiple-miracle, in that it defies the odds in several ways!
First, some background: David & Irma Schmidt normally take this difficult-to-fill Friday evening shift along with another dedicated KCFL volunteer, who could not be here today, because she is out-of-state for a funeral. David is blind, and his wife Irma has a speech impediment, and does not speak English, but rather a mixture of Spanish and English that only David can understand. However, Irma has excellent eye-sight and as long as they stay close together, they function very well. They arrive on-site via Wichita City Bus, and then I (Mark Gietzen) normally give them a ride home in the Truth-truck, since their shift extends beyond the hours of city bus service.
On Friday afternoon, while I was out running an errand, I stopped by Tiller's gate to see if things were going well with David & Irma, and to let them know that they would be taking this shift entirely alone.
As I was there with them, at 3:54 pm, two ladies in a silver sedan with Kansas Tags (tag no. is on file) approached Tiller's rather slowly. They did not stop, but they looked at the Truth-truck as they slowly drove by, and they looked at David's large sign, which he holds at the gate every Friday afternoon, which simply says: "THOU SHALT NOT KILL". They slowly went into Tiller's parking lot.
After that I left Tiller's, leaving David and Irma to handle everything at the gate by themselves. I did not expect any dramatic activity, because this was past the time that people usually come in for Friday early-term abortions, and this shift is one where Tiller's late-term abortion clients are on their last day of their 4-day procedure, and clients are leaving, not coming in.
However, I was wrong.
The two ladies who came in at 3:54 pm were here for an early-term abortion, but they may have never gotten out of their car in Tiller's parking lot.
Less than eleven minutes after driving into Tiller's parking lot, they came back to the gate to talk to David and Irma.
This was the first time that David and Irma had to face a situation like this alone, and they knew that a life depended upon what they did. However, David and Irma did NOT know that Choices Medical Clinic is normally closed by 4:pm.
David and Irma talked to them until 4:05 pm, at which point they sent them over to Choices Medical Clinic - not knowing that the proLife Choices Medical Clinic should have been closed by then.
But it was a blessing that they did not know that, because by "some mysterious chance" an out of state volunteer, who came all the way from Florida to volunteer at Choices Medical Clinic, was still there. With him were a few other staff members who were getting ready to leave, when the above two ladies arrived at Choices Medical Clinic. Irma showed them to the door of Choices Medical Clinic, and returned to Tiller's gate.
At 6:12 pm, when I arrived on-site again to take my closing shift, David and Irma excitedly told me about the save.
After we loaded the Crosses into my van, I parked it in Choices parking lot. Just then, I saw a man leaving Choice Medical Clinic, locking up the doors as he went.
It was dark, but I said to myself, that looks for all the world like ol' Pastor Joe Wright who used to live in Wichita
but of course it could not be him, because he lives out-of-state now.
But I was wrong again.
It was Pastor Joe Wright! He said that he had gotten tired of retirement, and came back to Wichita to do some volunteer work at Choices Medical Clinic.
He related to us, that once the mother-to-be, whom Irma bought to the door, saw the image of her baby on the sonogram, she immediately changed her mind about having an abortion. It was indeed a Confirmed Save.
No one on earth can give a better proLife talk than Pastor Joe Wright. It is pleasing to me to see that one who talks-the-talk so well, is also one who walks-the-walk equally as well. |

| Monday the 14th: | TURN-AROUND; Gail Richardson and Kathy Somes:
(This report comes via an e-mail from Gail Richardson to Donna Lampkin.)
Donna -- I forgot to mention to anyone that I think that Kathy Somes and I had a save on Monday. Kathy was just gathering 5 of her children to go home, and a car with one girl (African American) stopped to receive literature from her. They were talking, and I handed Kathy another piece of literature. Kathy took her to Choices, and when I left an hour and a half later, the young woman was still in there. Kathy said she looked frightened. Colleen and Kaleen Farran were after me, and I passed all of this on to them.
It was an unusual Monday. Kathy said that John had been out washing off sidewalk chalk (he called it graffiti) for a half hour or so, while grumbling. She called Mark Gietzen to see if it was graffiti, and Mark assured her it was not. Kathy said everything was very tense at Tiller's, probably because of the grand jury events.
Many more cars than usual were in and out. Two young women stopped to let me see their wonderful babes in the back seat (3 of them) on their way to Choices. We rejoiced together at their being such proud moms!
Also, two ladies had driven down from Wakefield, KS, to see what Tiller's was really like. They had been hesitant to come, but they wanted to just to tell other ladies what they are praying against. Out of a group of women at St., Ann's Church, some wanted to do more than the social things, so they are focusing on LIFE. God is everywhere, and God is good.
Thanks,
Gail |

| Wednesday the 2nd: | CONFIRMED SAVE; Rick Moss, Jenny, and Faith & Peter Klug:
At about 12:20 pm proLife Volunteers at Tiller's gate talked to a girl who was coming in for an abortion. She initially lied to the volunteers about her reason for being at Tiller's, but ended up thanking Rick Moss for helping her change her mind about having an abortion.
Here is Rick's account via e-mail.
Mark:
Here is the account at Tiller's Clinic, for 2 January 2008.
At approximately 12:20 pm a Volkswagen, blue grey, pulled up to the gate with a single girl i would say in her early 20's. I asked if she was coming to receive an abortion. She says she was coming to pick up someone that already had one. I gave her some literature and offered my condolences. She proceeded on into Tiller's. She only spent less than ten minutes there and came out and proceeded down the road. Just a few short minutes later she came back and pulled into Choices Medical Clinic. and spent About 45 minutes there. As she left Choices Medical Clinic she rolled down her window and said to me, "Thank you so much!"
Other members on site were Jenny, Peter and Faith Kluge.
Jesus is Lord!

| Thursday the 3rd: | TURN-AROUND-1 & TURN-AROUND-2: Donna Lampkin:
Both of these Turn-Arounds occurred on the same shift, and in both cases Donna was at the gate, and attempted to give them literature. In both cases, they did not accept the literature, and also, in both cases, Donna spoke to them as they walked across Tiller's parking lot. Each being a one-way conversation.
# 1 was a White couple in a 2-tone pick-up truck with Kansas Tags. (Number on file) They came in at 12:34 and left at 1:30 pm, too soon to have had an abortion.
# 2 was a Black man and woman in a black sedan, with Kansas Tags who came in between 1:00 and 1:30 pm and left at about 2:30 pm, again too soon to have had an abortion.
Both vehicles were on the watch list, but neither returned as of January 11th. |

| Saturday the 29th: | TURN-AROUND; Cheryl D. Sullenger:
(From Operation Rescue Press Release)
Truth Truck Helps Couple Turn Away From Abortion
December 30th, 2007
Wichita, KS - As late-term abortionist George R. Tiller opened his infamous abortion mill for the first Saturday in three years, Operation Rescue conducted sidewalk counseling and prayer in below-freezing temperatures.
One couple entered the icy parking lot as sisters from the Myers family sang hymns at the gate. A few minutes later, the couple left the abortion clinic, pausing for some time to consider the images of the aborted babies displayed in front of them on the Truth Truck. Sidewalk counselors report that the woman was overcome with emotion. The couple left and did not return.
We have no doubt that if faithful Christians had stayed home, the outcome for that pre-born child would have been tragic. We thank God for everyone who braved the cold and snow to stand as a testimony to Christ's love!
We rejoice in this change of heart and encourage those in the Kansas area to join Operation Rescue next Saturday, January 5, 2008, to offer help and hope to women who will be considering abortion at Tiller's clinic. This will be the last Saturday that the abortion clinic will be open for the foreseeable future. |
