At about 1:pm, an expensive black car with Sedgwick County KS Tags, stopped at Tiller's gate. The driver was a nice guy named "Mike". He was alone in the car and accepted material from Jennifer. He told Jennifer that he was here to pick up an abortion information pack from Tiller. After talking to Jennifer for about 3 minutes, he went into Tillers and got the information pack, but he stopped again to talk with Jennifer on his way out. This time, Mike accepted Jennifer's directions to Choices Parking Lot. While he was parking his car, Jennifer ran to Choices door, and told the receptionist that he was coming. Mike stayed in Choices Medical Clinic for at least half an hour. (Jennifer's shift ended prior to him coming out.)
Note: Since Jennifer did not speak to the lady personally, this incident is not being counted as a Turn-around, nor as a Confirmed Save for our statistical count, although it may well have been a life-saving incident . . .
TURN-AROUND: At about 2 pm, after completing her shift and leaving Tiller's, Jennifer was northbound on Oliver, having run an errand at ParkLane Shopping Center, when she noticed a car (a white 4-door sedan with a bent rear bumper) with an approximate 20 year old female driver, with red-blond hair, who had earlier gone into Tillers. The car was stopped, westbound, at the stop sign on Orme Street at the intersection of Oliver. Jennifer immediately turned right at Orme, and rolled down her window. The young lady rolled her window down, and began communicating with Jennifer. Her name is also Jennifer. Jennifer McCoy talked the young lady into pulling into the parking lot in front of the bookstore, where they talked for about 20 minutes. At first the young lady claimed that she had not gone into Tiller's for herself, but rather for a friend. As Jennifer continued talking to her, the young lady broke down in tears - confessing to Jennifer McCoy that she really did not know if she could go through with an abortion. Jennifer McCoy counseled the young lady, and gave her own phone number to her. She also gave the young lady directions to Choices Medical Clinic and A Better Choice Crisis Pregnancy Center, and their phone numbers. The young lady appears to be very troubled about her pregnancy and her situation, and thanked Jennifer McCoy for taking the time to talk to her. |
