  CONFIRMED SAVE; Donna Lampkin:

It being Saint Valentine's Day, Donna said that she was depressed to think that people would come in to Tiller's to have their child killed on this day set aside for love.

However, it was Donna's love for mothers and babies that prevailed in this case today.

Donna was standing at the gate alone, because we are so short of on-site volunteers this week, when at about 12:40 pm, a young Hispanic lady, in a Red Ford SUV with Sedgwick County, KS tags, stopped on Tiller's driveway, to talk to Donna.

She accepted printed material from Donna, and fortunately, Donna was prepared with both English and Spanish language literature in her hand.

The young lady is two months pregnant, and she was here for a scheduled early-term abortion. She could speak very little English, and after a minute or two, she went into Tiller's parking lot and parked on the south side.

She did not immediately exit her car, rather she was looking at the literature that Donna had given to her.

When she got out of the car, instead of walking towards Tiller's door, she came to the gate to talk to Donna some more.

In spite of the language barrier, Donna was able to invite her to go to the proLife "Choices Medical Clinic", next door to Tiller's abortion facility.

It was about 12:45 pm when Donna introduced her to the Choices receptionist - who immediately called in their interpreter, ...who arrived in just a few minutes by car.

The young lady stayed in Choices Medical Clinic for about 2.5 hours.

KCFL Volunteers, Margaret Mans and Craig Schiefelbein were on-site when at about 3:15 pm, the young lady and the interpreter came out of Choices Medical Clinic. This enabled Donna to talk to her some more without having to worry about traffic at the gate.

The young lady confirmed that she is keeping her baby, and she accepted a gift of some baby clothing from Donna. She seemed very happy with her decision to keep her child, and she is scheduled for a follow-up appointment at Choices Medical Clinic in early March.

Donna's shift ended on a humorous note, because the Choices interpreter was leaving at about the same time that the young Hispanic lady walked into Tiller's parking lot to get her vehicle.

Upon seeing the young Hispanic lady walk into Tiller's parking lot, and not knowing that her vehicle was in there, the Choices interpreter went rushing right in after her, thinking that she may have changed her mind, or misunderstood something.

When her mistake was discovered, there was laughter and love in the air at Tiller's gate.

I think that Donna's willingness to stand at Tiller's gate, hour-after-hour, day-after-day in anticipation of saving a baby's life and saving the mother from a future filled with regrets, is a sign of TRUE LOVE.

This is our 322nd documented save since Mother's Day, 2004.

Happy Saint Valentine's Day!
