Special one-time Monday schedule:
Two African-American ladies from Saint Louis, Missouri came into Tiller's; one was seven (7) months pregnant, and the other was not pregnant, but came along to support her abortion-bound friend. After waiting in the Tiller's waiting room for awhile, the friend got bored doing nothing, and came out to the gate to talk to Donna.
Since most abortions this late, are done for reasons of suspected fetal anomaly, Donna inquired as to what was wrong with the baby. The woman said that there was nothing wrong with the baby, rather, that the abortion was due to her friend's "family circumstances". Donna inquired further, but did not get a definite response, except that finances were not the problem. Donna had offered financial help if that were the reason. Without specific reasons given, conversation led Donna to believe that it was a problem with a change in boyfriends or husband, and/or that the child was not the son or daughter of whom she wanted it to be.
Since the woman who was getting the abortion was not covered by medical insurance, they had to pay Tiller in cash, and Tiller charged $7000.00 (Seven thousand dollars) for the abortion. He would not start the procedure until it was paid in full, upfront.
Donna tried hard to get her to bring her friend to Choices Medical Clinic, but she refused that offer of help. Donna is worried that the child may already be dead, and that this abortion is the reason why Tiller is in on the schedule on a Monday, which is not his normal schedule. I.e., it may take five days to complete this late-term abortion. |
